Actaully, it's parts of a logo, but all the same, I'm having real trouble reducing the size down to 80 pixels wide. I have the logo as a vector file, I'm using Corel Draw. This defies my understanding of what a vector is, but when I shrink the size as a vector, it gets chunky on the edges, then when I export as a raster, it accurately copies the chunky. And yes, I'm sure it's a vector, as I can still do node edit on it. The cleanest result I've had is to reduce the size of the vector to about 4 inches wide, then export, then resample the raster. But then it's a little fuzzy, as I would expect. So there it is, chunky or fuzzy, any tips? Thanks for any help.

James, It sounds like there may be a line on the vector shape that does not change in weight when you reduce the size. Try turning off the outline and see if that helps.

Hiya James, Tom's probably right. The other option would be to select the outline option where is scales with the drawing. Or, if you're trying to convert it to a raster file 80 pixels wide, your easiest bet is to export it as a GIF or a JPG at its current size. Then, after you start to save the name of the file, you'll get another pop-up window in which you can set the size and resolution of the raster image.
Havin' fun,

Laura, that was a beautiful copy, but kind of big. I'll try resampling it (reduce size) and see what happens.
Tom, I should have thought about that myself. I've been away from typical work for about a month, illustrating my first children's book. After your tip, I made a copy of the logo without the outline, but it was too washed out when reduced.
What did work, as well as anything, was to set the "super sampling" option in the export properties dialog box. That helped a LOT.
Thanks everyone for your help.
