Not much of a skull lover myself - everywhere I turn it's another skull....

but, Here's perhaps one of the earlier samples of skull art that I wasn't aware existed until I happened to be doing an internet search and some reading on Vincent Van Gogh....

Yep...ol' Vinny mighta been a biker if he'd lived in this time.

This painting is entitled 'Skull with burning cigarette' and was executed in the winter of 1886/87.

Interestingly enough, Van Gogh only sold one painting while he was alive - although he had created over 900 paintings and 1,000 drawings in his life.

His last painting Wheat Fields, finished a few days before his death and privately owned is going on the auction block. Van Gogh, suffering from mental illness and severe melencholy went out into a field...shot himself in the chest and staggered back into town - thinking it wasn't what turned out to be a fatal gunshot...he died two days later...

Here is his contribution to "skull art."

Looks like Van Gogh was a Grateful Dead fan. Imagine if tie-dye shirts were around during his time.

This is a Van Gogh? I'm surprised the anti-smoking lobbies haven't discovered this image and made some hay out of it. Send 'em a copy. Or if this is your own hoax, sell it to 'em.

...In the '30s, when he was a young soldier (and SKULL and BONES member) stationed in New Mexico, Georges grandfather PRESCOT BUSH reportedly robbed the grave of famed Indian cheif GERANIMO and brought his skull to the S & B crypt at YALE.
