Our band played at the Kiwanis benefit Friday night and last night we had friends over for a jam session. Next weekend we play at the Holmes County fair.
Among others, we played one of my songs; "Mom and Daddy's Farm" and my daughter sang "When You Say Nothing at All". The crowd was great and we had a blast!

Lately I've been spending my weekends building and fixing things. My sister wanted me to make a bench to use with her dining room table. I decided to make it out of oak. The top is 70"x14". It's a simple design, but it was fun to make:
My mind wanders. And that's not a good thing, 'cause it's too small to be out there alone. Posts: 3129 | From: Tooele, UT | Registered: Mar 2005

My husband's car was stolen last week. Today we went out and bought a new Honda Element. It's a lovely arctic metallic blue. I wanted to get a white one and paint Wonderbread colored circles on it because it looks like a bread truck!
Usually I'm working. All work and no play that's me -- very dull.
Russ that bench is beautiful. I like the simple lines.

Had a lazy Friday night, went on an all day motorcycle ride on Saturday up around Crystal River and Hommosassa. Some yardwork Sunday morning, and then more lazy in front of the Emmy's last night. Oh yeah, also watched the last episode of Design Star to see the winners.

That's a great way to spend time with your family ... looks like you all have a lot of fun.
A typical weend for me is band practice, brush practice and putzing around with yard/house work.
Spent this weekend rebuilding a bathroom for one of the guys in my band (after our usual Saturday practice)... and cleaning my garage for a birthday party next weekend (25+ teenagers).
Now the garage is clean enough for some panel jamm'n.

Wow, you all do some cool stuff! Janette, we went to Homassassa for a field trip when I was a kid. That was a hundred years ago! We lived in Dade City.
That's great you took your dad fishing, Mike! Last time I took my stepdad fishing, he got poison ivy. But he had a great time!

During the week I like to do volunteer work at the Salvation Army serving meals to the less fortunate who have lost their homes and spent all their money on drugs, alcohol and gambling and on the weekends an usher for one of our two hundred local churches. Its such a pleasure giving persons who are on welfare and collecting miscellaneous checks from assorted agencies while going to church and receiving all sorts of gifts meant for the poor, but hey who am I to question after all most workers take a drug or urine test to get a job yet these persons only need to fill out an application or two. Why just last weekend I striped a two year old Ford Sport-trax with 20" rims for a darling elderly couple who gets disability and S.S. retirement while receiving free food from the Salvation Army and the church while working off the books receiving an annual six figure salary. Such sweethearts to offer me a Perrier delivered by their housekeeper as I stood outside under the carport sweating my ass off with a brush in my hand, I would have worked in the garage but the motorhome would have had to be removed. As I finished up the job and handed them a bill they reminded me that they were on a fixed income and that I should have worked a less amount of time and accomplished twice the work for amount I listed so they wouldn't have to give me a check for the balance and her husband wouldn't have to open her wall safe.
Yes, I just love donating my time and energy to the many who are less unfortunate

Lazy beach bum by day, couch potato by night.
This weekend at the beach though one of the Junior jetski racers turned 13 so we had a little birthday party for him on Saturday. Everyone on the beach (all jetski racers) joined in singing Happy Birthday and partaking in cupcakes.
Sunday I played with a 2 year old in the water while his mom went out to ride. I think I can relate to toddlers better than I can to most adults.

Spent a good deal of saturday doing yard work, cleaning up some of the mess I made in the shop during the past week and working on the outboard motor on my fishing boat. Then late afternoon and evening, went to a big Christian concert in Brookhaven,MS.
Sunday we went to church, then spent most of the rest of the day road tripping up around Philadelphia (Mississippi), taking in the sights around the Indian reservation and casino areas.
Came home and did some layout work to get ready for good ole monday.
Russ, that's a beautiful bench. Kind of Amish in design. Simple, functional, beautiful.
Janet, we lived just north of Weekee Wachee for several years, so spent a lot of time in Homasassa and Crystal River. Pretty country.

Two weeks ago We picked up a 30 yr old 400cc honda engine and used it to fix up my old wood splitter.
Last weekend tested it by splitting a load of wood then fooled around in the shop watching the router carve eagles while trying to figure out where the new router goes.
This weekend I'm going to buy some beer and go to NH in search of Moose Mania.

Typical Weekend? What's a weekend? for me...
Saturday morning to early afternoon in volunteer ministry and conducting a Bible study. Mid afternoon, play flag football with people half my age. Evening, go to daughter’s and play with grandkids. Saturday night, study my Watchtower lesson for meeting on Sunday.
Sunday morning to early afternoon in volunteer ministry and conducting a Bible study. Mid afternoon, catch a bit of a football game. Sunday evening, go to public talk and Watchtower study at Kingdom Hall. After meeting, find out who won football game.
Sometimes, I can sneak in a short nap or some shopping.
I have to go to work on Monday to rest up from the weekend.

Looks like y'all raised the roof Wayne. Steve, no way would I do that. Nice bench, Russ. Wish I were joining you in NH, Ernie.
I've been lucky to find an empty seat on flights my wife is working. She had a 48 hour layover in Venice 2 weeks ago and I'm tagging along to San Francisco this weekend. Athens and a return to the Acropolis the end of the month, and maybe Rome in October. Life is good......

Sat - walk in the AM, clean the house, do laundry, get the lawn mowed, wash the truck.
Sun - walk in the AM, attempt to start some kind of small project with the house, or just have a lazy day and plan nothing and just go have fun.
If Cody isn't with me, I love doing yard work until it gets dark, no interruptions and just putz around. I generally order in dinner and rent a movie for the PM. Last sat I was in his kiddie pool with an ice cap in my hand, then I'd jump out and read a book. Tough tough day it was...
House renos are on top of my list too, but all in good time. I need the time, added skills and funds to do it right. But I do dabble on the odd thing that gets wrecked. It's just that nothing is getting better lookin' yet.
