Tell Ray I'm on his side of the router wars. I can't afford to be on Dan's side.... his software and classes probably cost as much as my router.
I finally got tired of nursing the old router and fixing bad cuts when the stepper motor misses steps. It will be a semi-sad day when I convert my existing routers to spare parts.
Now I have about a month to clear out room for the new router. I hope this doesn't mean I have to keep my shop heated all winter for the fancy spindle!

Well, congratulations! You finally saw the light!!
You'll not regret your decision. We'll be looking forward to seeing the masterpieces that you will produce.
And...it's not a peashooter. That's just jealously talking.
And that spindle can take the cold. Just be sure to let it warm up for about ten minutes before starting a project. I do that with mine and it's warm here in Texas. I'd be more worried about the operator than the spindle.
Keep up updated and post some photos when you get it up and running.
OK Grandpa, the army is growing. Soon we will have you surrounded.

Thanks for the nice words, I hope to eventually have something good enough for the router wars.
We did a made a simple house sign when evaluating the Shopbot. My boy Web made the 3D claddagh model and generated the runtime files with Vectric Cut3D. The demo at shopbot went very smoothly with no problems. The rest of the sign was cut with my old router.
