Is there somewhere online where I can find a PMS color chart to print off our SP 300 to have a reference for Pantone colors?

What I consider a better chart, is one that identifies cmyk values contained in each of the chips. Print one on your vinyl stock & one on your banner stock. Then just show to your customer, or compare to your pantone swatches, match the cmyk values in your file... & print with predictable results.

If your swatch files contain pantone numbers... and they are off, which most likely, many of them will be... all the chart does is tell you they will be off... not how to fix them. It will stilll work like a decoder to say this is what you can get, and these pantone numbers is how I can get it... but if they are not the true pantone color, that just seems like the wrong way to go.

You can download the CMYK charts at printingdigital.net

Someone has posted one on here before. Try a search. I can't remember the topic name.

Have you tried printing out the Roland Color System charts? They are CMYK but really good for color picking.

Just one little tidbit to remember: If your printer and the material you're printing on isn't calibrated with a spectrophotometer and using the right color profile, you'll wind up with something "close" but not exact; and that's the whole idea behind the PMS chart - an EXACT match.

Pantone makes a solid to process guide with all the CMYK forula, that is what we use.

PMS is for solid color mixing so the CMYK formula in some things don't translate well like the maroons, purples and greens.

yea....What Ricky said!

Thanks everybody for all the responces-again this community is always the most helpful!

I guess I should have clarified what I was looking for a little better-what I was trying to find is a color chart so I can have a reference point so if I need a certain color, I'll at least know what one to use-it doesn't have to exactly match the Pantone chart per se-the clientele we deal with at my work isn't that fussy (fortunately!)

From Corel Draw you can print color swatches from any palette the visual basic scripts are included.

Step 1: ensure pantone palette is open

Tools>Visual Basic>Play

"Macros in" dropdown, choose "Global Macros"
Select CreateColorSwatch, then "run"
Select palette, insert page header, set spacing (small is better) >ok
