As some might know, we have been planning on retiring for a while. (I know that some folks dislike the concept)
We like the idea and the money is in place to allow it.
As of today, all "conditions of sale" of our property have been satisfied. The property is sold. Closing date is Sept.14.
As of Sept.1 we will be moving to an apartment in town.
Business is sold.
Mexico, here we come for at least 6 months this winter.
Once back next spring, smile at me when I greet you at WalMart or Canadian Tire or Home Hardware!!

Thanks Dave..Hopefully the purchaser of the business will get too busy and hire me at minimum wage to do installs!!!
But that, if it happens, will only happen during summer in Ontario.
No more "beautiful" friggin sideways blowing snowflakes for us!!

Deri..I started working 40 years ago..have been in several fields. Self employed for the last 35..20 years in the automobile bodywork business.
I have been in the sign business for around 15 years. By far, it has been the most lucrative that I have found. I'll miss it.
But at age 62 it is time to start just enjoying life while we can. Tired of saving and saving..time to start using the savings.
My best advice to anyone is...no matter how much it hurts at the time..put some money away every month..it builds up and increases in value like you would not believe. Plus, if done correctly, it is an income tax writeoff while working.

Good Luck dave!!
...and thanks for the advice. Besides a little in IRA's the last few year, this year, at 48 yrs. old... I finally started saving. I have ben doing a lot of smarter & better things with regards to money in the last 10 years.... but I was so behind the 8-ball 10 years ago, that it didn't really start to ome around until recently.
Now I have some incentive to save... and your post gives me a little reminder of that better-late-then-never incentive!

Dave, here's hoping you get to enjoy a very lonngggggg retirement. All you folks need to heed his advice, now here is a splash from a newly turned 70 year old. Get yourself in good physical condition and stay that way. If I had knowm I would live this long I would have taken better care of myself. Stay as active as you possibly can and kick the smoking habit, if you have it. Oh yes, eat healthy! Peace Brothers and Sisters, Don

Of course....Give up smoking, drinking, sex and fatty foods plus excecise every day! You probably won't live any longer, it will just seem that way!
Dave .....get out there and enjoy life before you become too old and feeble to have fun!
