I working on a BMW bike today (basecoat black/not cleared yet) and stepped out for few minutes.
When I returned, I decided to remove some of the Finesse tape to reposition it. It left a small patch of adhesive, and being uncleared, I wasn't too sure how to clean it up.
I gave RapidTac a call and Roger called back in minutes with some good tips.
I did a small test on the bottom of the tank (out of site area) with a small piece of chammy (sp?) dampened with some Rapid Remover. It only slightly dulled the finish without cutting through the color. Since it is being cleared over later, I lightly wiped the adhesive off without hurting the finish.
Thanks, Roger, for the prompt call and keeping me off the hangman's noose for yet another day!

Sometimes when I have a small patch of adhesive left behind when removing vinyl, instead of breaking out the RR I will use the removed tape and place it back over that patch, using the adhesive on the tape to lift the adhesive from the surface.

Ray, PPG 330 wax & Grease Rremover works well on uncleared base coats. Dave Perowitz from cycle fab ( who is also a PPG spokesperson ) recomends using it over basecoat mural or graphic work to simulate a clearcoat to look for any inperfections before clearing.Iv'e been using this method for quite some time and it's great for removing residue left from tapes. The 330 is mild. Don't use the 440, it will remove paint!
