I got back home toady and wanted to post my finished project. Sorry I don't have photo's of the rest. They should be along shortly.
I'll tell you right now. There is some beautiful work up there.
Peach put on one hell of an event. Thanks to Main Street Algoma, Peach, and everyone who helped out.

I was on the DL, Carole. Bad strain in the knee -- had to mend. I was all ready and raring to go. How did you guys make it through without Dale's music? I know I was bummed when I saw he wasn't going to make it. I even considered asking him to burn a copy.
I'm on the edge too, Dale. Waiting to see the candy.

My wall was actually a fence between two buildings....10 ft high by 30 ft wide...this was very convienent as we never need a scaffold. We got to talk with many passers-by on foot and in cars and trucks and mo-peds, scooters etc. The town is a-BUZZ with positive, happy comments!!!
The whole weekend was busier than their annual "Shanty Days" celebration is what alot of townsfolk told us!
That can only mean one thing....ORGANIZATION!
Dave Petri made this event the success that it is! He stayed with it thru thick and thin to see that everyone was happy.....Top Notch job Peach, you are setting a very good clean, fun example for all WallDogs in this world!!!!
The Main Street Program of Algoma, Mike Glime, has become one of us, he went above and beyond for our needs and he is another huge factor in how these meets become the rage that they are! Hats off to YOU Mr. Glime!!!!
The core group that we seen to have with these middle of the country wall dog meets is a very close knit group. We wil never consider ourselves a "Clique" that you just can't break-into, in fact just the opposite. We welcome anyone from anywhere to join in!!! We met so many townspeople from Algoma that just wanted to go home with us and go to the next meet, that it was a fever that was spreading like wildfire!!!
We are looking at possibly 2 walldog meets next year, 2008. Mt. Pulaski, Illinois and Minneapolis, Minnesota. We are also going to sit down and get a web site together for walldogs that can help us all for information, scheduling calendar, sponsorships, travel arrangements, photos, car pooling, entertainment etc...
We all know we have a good thing going here and now we need to make it become more and more steady so that when a town is interested in our gathering, we can provide them with the information so it can run more smooth.
SO you folks reading this that had wished you came, you ARE going to come next time aren't you?
AREN'T YOU? It hurts to see these pictures of us having a ball, that's why we want you to join the fun!!!!! Come on!!!!

So how many "dogs" did you guys have altogether? It looked like a lot of work to do. Hope it all went smoothly. Congratulations Dave, I hope they can say nice things about me after next week.

I can't say enough about Algoma. What a wonderful town and Dave Petri did a fantastic job. The townspeople bent over backwards for us Walldogs.
As with any meet you will have little things come up, but everything was taken care of and I can take my hat off until the next walldog meet.
Thanks to Mainstreet and all the volunteers that made our stay a memorable one.

I believe there was over a 100 painters that checked in...I want to say 110 (that was the last number Mike Glime gave me but that was Friday afternoon). It was definitely a great time. Adam and I missed the finale event unfortunately but we heard it was an absolute blast! The towns people were great and provided us with the best food in the area (fresh salmon, cheese, bread to name some). Thanks Peach and Main Street Algoma!

Wow! What a great time! I believe that I left a part of my heart in Algoma. Just loved it out there!
Thanks Dave for such a great meet and Thanks to main street for all your kindness and such support. I have lots of pictures so here is a link to my album, will have more up later.
Here's our photo contribution. I got to say this one was ranked high up there with my favorite meets. Algoma was such a cool town and the people were great. If for what ever reason i had to move from Pontiac, I would hope I could relocate to a town like Algoma.

Awesome meet! Plain and simple! The dogs rose to the occasion big time. Peach did a great job. He ran around like a chicken with his head cut off for a while, but if you needed anything, he delivered. Hats off to him and JAG Outdoor Advertising for providing everything necessary for secure and comfortable staging and all the necessary support elements to pull off the body of beautiful work we left behind.
How about Algoma, though! What a wonderful setting for a town -- on the shores of one of the largest lakes in the world. That place was just as neat, tidy and hospitable as you can get. No wonder all the townies were smiling all the time, they live in a grand place -- Mercy!
I had to get up at 4:30am with almost no sleep under my belt to witness an awesome sunrise. Every night we were down at the beach in our Adirondack chairs ... at the fire pit ... coolers at hand ... looking at the sparkling lake ... listening to waves crash against the shore -- it was simply toooooooooo much!!!!!!!!!
The weather was unreal, although a little cool at night, a sweat shirt and great company was all that was required to warm your soul. We had smoked salmon everyday for lunch. Sometimes 2 or 3 varieties. Allllllllll the food was great. I don't know if this was the best walldog meet so far or not, but it sure came close. Even the brick, which was a creamy color, was relatively easy to paint on which enable most of the projects to be completed on Saturday with plenty of time to spare. That's important for the older dogs such as myself. Older dogs need plenty of relax time.
Once again the dogs delivered with the gifts they left behind. And once again a town is changed forever because of our efforts. WE DO MAKE A DIFFERENCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can't say much about those other "project leaders" but, Bill Diaz again shined on his wall. It was an honor to hold a brush with Bill and Joe and the rest of the team. Not only are they great sign people but fun to be with. We had a great time, caught up with many old friends, and met many new ones. Oh yeah, the rest of the murals were all a credit to our craft. Thanks again to Peach and Algoma. Just another Christmas in June!

Hey Dale We really missed your tunes. I just want to thank you for the Jacksonville CD. What a great job you did with that.
I found out that my voice carries just as good in Wisconsin. I was able to stop a couple of ships out on Lake Michigan.
Thanks again!

Dale - Bernie and I(Velma) really appreciate the Jacksonville CD. I shed a couple tears seeing John Jordan on it. I really missed your tunes...Mike Meyer had some tunes....Polka...nothing wrong with that, but I was wishing we had some of your tunes. I also was missing the truffles, had to settle for Hersheys....hope to see you at a future meet and thanks again for the CD. By the way, I think Michael Clark left town before they could have put his voice to use...it was foggy on Sunday morning and the fog horn was not nearly as loud as he can be....love ya Michael. Special thanks to Dave "Peach", to the community of Algoma, and all the Dogs! We had a great time. Sore butts today....14 hr drive home, but worth every minute.

Hello to the good people of Letterville, I just wanted to take some time to thank all of you who have made the "Walldog Wave" such an incredible success! The whole area is a flutter of excitement and wonder as the marvel continues to unfold before them. After breakfast, Chance Harrison and I went to the house of Tom Dallman and Cheri Long to pick up Miles this morning and we all tackled number 11, which was a baby mural for Reinhart Bros. Shoe co. There are two more left to do with the 1923 Coca-cola ad metal sign and the Krause Lumber jumbo native american wall on Second st. Just couldn't let you have all the fun! I'm still dumbstruck by what just happened. I will post again when I reach "awestruck". To the project leaders and their families and all who attended...Thank You just simply isn't enough. More salmon anyone? Later. Let's paint!!

Can't wait till the next time we get to paint on walls and dance in the streets! And to all the guys on our "crew", why don't you guys live closer so I could see you more often!!! Miss your faces!

I'm back in my shop now, Wed. morning. Algoma was fantastic, great town, great people, on a Great Lake! I have to personally thank my "crew" - Bernie Geitel and DL Whitlock helped on Wednesday, then when Bernie got his scissor lift (He did the Orange Crush sign) Victor from Chicago and Chance Harrison from Wisconsin pitcched in and we had 'er done by noon Saturday. Deb Fowler and a few other folks painted as well, and it was everything Letterheads and Walldoggin' is suppose to be - sharing, laughing, painting, and leaving a legacy. As Meyer likes to say, "We beautify America one town at a time." Well, Algoma was damn nice when we got there, and even better when we left.
For me personally, the high point of the weekend was when David Butler placed the winning bid on my project panel at the auction. That a letterhead and artist of David's caliber would pay to hang something I've done in his shop is a compliment greater than words can describe. Thanks David. Thanks to everybody involved!
