Dennis, I got 3 things to say.

1. That's the coolest table saw ever.

2. The video with the doctor and the guys talking about amputated fingers in worse than the Texas Chainsaw Massacre movies.

3. It's pretty cool when he wants to prove how safe it is and sticks his wiener in it.

Question is how much are replacement brakes? You're gonna need four or five of them because you know you'd have to try the thing out, then get some buddies over to see it, then decide to risk an actual finger. What's the point of the coolest tool in the neighborhood if you can't show it off?

Pat, it sounds like it ruins the blade as well. I've no idea what a good table saw blade costs but I know I've seen them for over a hundred dollars.

I guess if it saves ya from getting your finger cut off, it'd be worth it....... but if it's just your workers that use the saw mostly?? [I Don t Know] [Wink]

Guess you could just tell them what the crew chief used to tell me when I was working on the building crew... (and my dad owns the company) "If you fall off the ladder or the roof, you're fired before you hit the ground; but if you get up and are alright, I'll hire you back."

So... if you slip while using the saw... you're fired, right before your hand hit the blade. But if afterwards, you still have all your fingers, we'll hire ya back.

That's too cool. I'd like to see that technology used on all power tools.

Table saws are inherently dangerous tools, and should not be used by persons not fully aquainted with their safe operation.

The Saw Stop technology does not prevent kickback, which is the direct cause of most table saw injuries (ask me how I know [Eek!] ), and can be prevented with the installation of a a simple and inexpensive riving knife.

False trips are likely to be an expensive inconvenience, in spite of Saw Stop's claims to the contrary.

Saw Stop patent holders have tried to sell their technology to tool manufacturers and consumers, with little success.

Having failed in the free market, they attempted to create a market through legislation, filing a petition to make their technology a mandatory performance standard on all table saws sold in the U.S. http://www.cpsc.gov/library/foia/foia06/brief/tablesaw.pdf

Unfortunately, the petition was not denied, but only deferred. http://www.cpsc.gov/library/foia/ballot/ballot06/TableSaws.pdf

Keep an eye on this one. You may want to buy that Unisaw before they become a techno-nightmare. [Roll Eyes]

If you need a safe, quiet, low dust circular saw with guide rail ... check out the Festool plunge cut circular saw. Best saw I ever bought.
