What is your favorite music to work to.

Different tasks should require different tunes.

I can't do any work that requires too much focusing or thinking, while I'm listening to music.

However, out in the shop, while I'm doing more mechanical tasks, I think Rock and Roll works best. [Smile]

I also like bluesy stuff like Bonnie Raitt etc.

I'm a Stevie Ray, Robert Cray, Clapton, etc. fan too.

Sometimes when I want something soothing I'll listen to Atreyu, Slipknot, Sences Fail, and Emery. When I'm in the mood for something really hardcore I'll put on Enya. [Confused]

Depends what I'm working on. Here at the sign shop I perfer 80s rock like Poison or Motley Crue, but at home if I'm cleaning the house or something I usually go for some newer style rock or metal. I also find Weezer works quite well for almost all occasions except maybe driving, even then though, still pretty good.

If I have my ipod its live bluegrass or live Grateful Dead. If you have a chance try tuning in to WNCW at wncw.org. Public radio from Western North Carolina. One minute you hear Robert Johnson the next you'll hear the Grateful Dead. It is a beautiful thing. Let me know what you think.

I have some complete albums I like to work to.

Dire Straits - Making Movies
U2 - War, Pop, Zooropa
Herbie Hancock - Headhunters
Medeski Martin and Wood - Shack Man, Friday Afternoon In The Universe
Bob Dylan - Planet Waves, Love and Theft
John Lee Hooker - Hooker and Heat(with Canned Heat), Live at Cafe Au Go Go and Soledad Prison
Jane's Addiction - Nothing's Shocking, Ritual De Lo Habitual
Manu Chao - Clandestino
Marvin Gaye - What's Going On

Otherwise just shuffle the collection and skip the songs that don't suit my mood.

I have a Johann Strauss cd -New Year's Eve concert in Vienna 1992 I think and it's great!
Also Harry Chapin- but only while working on 'no brainer' stuff. If I have to think carefully, I prefer silence- no radio, nothing, just the birds etc.

Your not weird!
I listen to CBC all day long.

I worked at a place were everyone worked in a stale area.
Everyone had their own radio.....
One was blasting Rock the next was blasting Country or Opera.

It got to the point of being nothing but noise!

I went in early one morning with a tube of Krazy Glue and tuned all radios to CBC. then glued all the dials so they couldn't change them again!!!!!!
LOL

I gotta get me some of that high speed stuff. Radio here sucks. I can get WNCW in town on the truck radio, And WETS, but hardly anything at the shop. I think about one of those FM antennas sometimes. Don't know if they will do me any good or not. Anybody living out in the rural jungle got one?

If I am just cutting vinyl or painting letters I like Fernando Ortega, real soft, but if I am in an aggressive mood, Kutless.

I am also with Ian, especially this time of year, my shop is like a tree house in the trees, & I like the birds singing.

I also like it quiet if I need to concentrate, like doing layouts, etc.

Depends on my mood and/or the task in front of me.

Computer Work/Hand Lettering: Middle of the road stuff. Nothing to heavy. Spiritual/Native American to Light Rock and Blues.

Working in the Shop: Classic Rock from the 60's - 70's and early 80's

Guess I'm showing my age with that selection!

I'm like Nettie, if thinking is required, then I like silence. IF we have control over the music, I like happy, up tempo stuff. Usually, since we are a mobile service, we tend to be at the mercy of whatever the customer is listening to. In that case I can listen to just about anything and be OK with it. I will, however , politely tell them to turn off any rap, talk radio or religious shows.

I myself really enjoy music on all the time if possible. If you've been to a Walldog meet, perhaps you've seen or should I say heard my Mural painting tune box.

I use an iPod which is up to around 4000 songs. I have most groups on it that have been mentioned above and some that you might not have heard of at all. Supreme Beings of Leisure, Grace Potter?

Then again I don't have any of that Polka stuff...That Meyers guy definitely dances to a different drummer!

When I put the old Pod on shuffle, you never know what you're gonna get.

To Each his own...enjoy the ride
