We are doing everything in our power to see that Letterheads on the Loose will be jam packed with educational opportunities and fun! At the same time we are trying to make it as economically feasable as we can. Your entry fee ($120 CAN) will include almost all of your meals. We are attempting to assist anyone who wishes to be set up with a billet or camping. In addition we have some group lodging opportunities (if you have any friends) that look to be fun and reasonable. We also have blocks of rooms set aside in local hotels. You do not require a vehicle if you are flying in. The Regina Airport is about 35 mins away and we will be running shuttles as needed. The hotels that we are recommending are within a couple of blocks of the venue, a five minute walk. The meet will be held at the Hillcrest Sports Centre. We have the use of a 22,500 square foot curling rink which is well lit and ventilated. All the murals will be painted in the rink as well as the other projects and the Panel Jam area. Everything you could want in one spot! There is also a lounge and a restaurant in the building that look over the area we will be working in. Meals will also be held in the facility. When you feel the need for a change of scenery we are adjoining a golf course that goes through a little valley. There will be scheduled tours set up for any who wish to take in the tunnels or ride the mural tour trolley. On the 7th the Snowbirds will be doing their Air Show for any who wish to take the time to attend.
We have some wonderful talent in our project leaders, as well as additional seminars and demos. Bill Heug will be holding sessions in front of the murals dealing with various aspects, such as how to approach a project, laying it out or painting portraits. He has chosen to leave the subject matter fairly flexible in order to best serve the needs of the attendees. Nancy Beaudette will be doing a class on Marketing and Business, Rick Janzen on distressing and ageing signs, Tramp Warner on cartooning and truclk layout, we'll have demos on lettering, marbeling, carving, laying gold, layout.... your biggest problem is going to be how to decide what you want to take in. Based on the alleged Al Capone occupation of the Moose Jaw tunnels, we are giving the meet a gangster theme. It should be a great subject for panels and we encourage those of you who like to dress up to play it to the max. The Goldfather Banquet will be held on Saturday night and we will be doing a tribute and toast to the late John Jordan in acknowledgement of his true Letterhead spirit. I want to mention again that we are really placing emphasis on putting education as a priority. While Letterheads make their own fun (and believe me we will!) I feel that attending a meet is costly in terms of lost production time as well as actual expenses, so I really want people to go home feelin that the expenditure was well worth it. We have asked for registrations to be in by June 1st so we can plan meals etc. We have also decided to limit the meet to 200 attendees in order to keep the expenses down and the meet manageable. Hope you can make it.

Another reason Kelly didn't mention .............. If you've never seen the prairies from ground level, they are amazing. Most people who see them for the first time ( me included, 30 some years ago) only notice the flatness & lack of geographical features, but they're missing it altogether. It's the sky .... amazing sunrises, vermilion sunsets, the aurora, the stars, & cumulus clouds on a summer day going on forever. You can watch a thunderstorm develop, start to finish, & see the anvil - you sure can't see that from here in the east! When Bill Riedel & I were driving to Pat Welter's in 2003, Bill told MaryAnn on the phone "you could see tomorrow's weather from here" - pretty much true. TR

I so want to be there... I'm praying for a miracle job that would enable the trip. I'd love to be able to see tomorrow's weather- and I'm sure that time of year it will be an enjoyable escape from our usually smoggy, muggy fare.

Hi Nancy, no smoggy, muggy fare in MJ, guaranteed. You can expect sunny, windy and possibly one good thunderstorm with an awesome rainbow. Maybe you can catch a ride with someone coming from your area? We can try to get you a host family or group accomodation to keep the costs down. Would be great to have you!
