Quick question for you all. I have always done the village street signs where I live. The green reflective signs with the street names on them in reflective white.
What would you charge to make a 6" x 18" sign per say?
$10.44 is what we are being quoted against. Do note every sign is different and 2 sided. Would you say whomever is quoting them is doing them for NADA?

I know, and this is the village we live in. Nothing like giving your money to someone you don't know. Anyhow, I agree. I wouldn't load my reflective into a machine for $10 either....especially reflective!!! Too valuable!

The blank itself is something like $6 from Grimco. I wouldn't do 'em for less than $20 each, single-sided. Let the other company bid themselves out of business! Love....Jill

Once you do them for Chinese prices...they'll keep coming to you....so you'll:
A) Make no money on those jobs. B) Steal time from profitable jobs. C) Have a bitter, angry feeling each time you do them....(while you ponder with regret having agreed to that price.)
What kind of cheap weiner would try and find a better price than $10 for something like that??!!

Well Theresa, Before I say anything, how many are we talking about and what thickness is the substrate? The ones I've made or bought were normally .080" thick. If we're talking one or 2 signs, I agree with the others and wouldn't touch them for that price. However, if you're updating all the streets in town and you need many signs, that's a differnt story!

Well, it is about 28 signs, but they are all different sizes. Some 18" some 24", 30" etc. Depending on the length of the names. Ans yes it is .080 Aluminum with 2 sides of reflecive sheeting plus two sides with names!!! These are just to keep in stock because they have a problem with people stealing them due to the names.

...I think I can beat your names. A few months back I did street signs for a two-lane trailer court that's being opened by two brothers. They named the streets Grizzly and Husky after their favorite chew-tobacky brands! They also never quibbled about the price. Love....Jill

Hi again Theresa, Ya, I agree with the others, it's probably not worth it. Although Grimco sells completed reflective 6" x (lenght necessary) for about $21 each. Maybe they give volume discounts and most of the signs are larger than 24"? Even cutting all the corners I could and trying to produce them in house, I'm still at $18 for a 6" x 18" sign. Oh well, maybe next time.

I have done municipal street signs, by the time you purchase the blanks from Grimco, covered in reflective or not, shipping, purchase reflective for lettering, cutter blades ( as ref. wears them out quick)layout lettering, cut, mask and apply to two sides and make a reasonable profit, someone else will come along and give them away.
They are not worth the effort. The reason we all went in to business was to make money for our future and retirment.

Actually, Mort, I do this to meet chicks. Figure I find me a sugar momma for retirement.
Add my vote. Not enough $$$ to justify turning the equipment on. I'd knock them out at $25 because they will be coming back again every few weeks with the proverbial "we need just one more". Rapid
