I installed the software but I can't get the system to reconize my Edge or Envision. Can anyone help me with this tonight? I don't know why I have to update this software. [I Don t Know] Anything was working fine till I did. [Bash]

Cynthia,

Please explain what you mean by not recognizing your devices. I just upgraded and had no problem whatsoever.

Did you try to go to the system tray and open, install printer or plotter? If you do, there is a drop down menu to pick and add. Hope this helps.

Are you running in "demo mode" ?

Is it a "Design Station" configuration ?

Tony you are right. I had installed the software and used the key for the "Design Station" that will soon be coming. After I did the reinstall the plotter will not cut. They seem to think that the serial port is bad on my computer. The bad thing about that is I don't have anyway to check it. The plotter is the only thing that I use a serial port for. I have an adapter that converts a 9 pin to a USB but they don't think I can get the plotter to cut using it. I would try it but I don't know how to config it so I can try it.

A lot of those serial to USB adapters are for PDA's and usually those ones don't run plotters... but high speed ones do work for some plotters.

If everything was working fine with Omega 2.1
were you using that same port? If so, odds are that it didn't go bad right when you upgraded, & look for something other then that.

I have had this computer since 12/04 and had the equipment hooked to it and then my hard drive crashed. I then put it back on my old computer that had 98 SEon it. WHen I upgraded to 2.5, I had to switch to the Dell because it had XP Pro, which the upgrade requires. The plotter and cord was working fine. I only had one serial port on the Dell because that is all I needed. Everything else I have is USB. When I would try to install the plotter on the com port, the only COM port that showed as available was COM 3. We tried to reconfigure and it didn't work. GSP and Dell said that was the only thing that could be wrong.

if your old computer with W98 has an extra serial port in one of the horizontal slots in the bottom half of the computer, you could probably switch that port to the Dell...

...or, if you have the CD to load XP onto the older computer, that would be worth doing in my opinion... unless you are keeping it at W98 for a specific program that requires 98. Even if you don't have an XP cd... this might be a good time to try to get one, because if you can still get one, that won't be true for long, & for a few hundred bucks, if it gets your edge working a few days earlier, it will practically pay for itself.
