Tonight I finally got to do a project that I've been dying to do for months... and I in fact got to do it twice!

We routed, painted and assembled the pieces of these signs over the last weeks, but they've been languishing in the corner waiting for me to apply a little Magic (Magic Sculpt) to them until today. Other deadlines and concerns have forced this part of the project to the rear of the line until now... but the deadline for the entire project is fast approaching...

After supper I finally got a start on them... for there are two of these signs. I cut two quick inner bucks in the shape of a profile of a moosehead from some Precision Board and glued and screwed them to the signs. Then I drilled a hole through the tops and inserted a bent piece of pencil rod to form support for the antlers... then it was time for a little MAGIC fun!

In less than four hours I managed to build up, sculpt and texture two of these little moose... or is that meese? Fun, fun, fun!!!

 -

The signs are about 42 wide x 22" tall x 14" deep . Tomorrow we'll throw on a quick coat of paint and they are ready to GO!!!!!

Dreaming of moose in Yarrow...

Dan, your work never ceases to amaze me. Although you are handicapped with a MultiCam and lack the advantages a ShopBot could give you, you manage to soldier on regardless, and I for one admire you for that! ;-)

We can't, really. The guy is simply amazing, even with a MultiCam.

Dan, Great work, as usual.

Could 2lb expanded polystyrene ( or even extruded polystyrene be substituted for the HDU on the Moose head.

Seems to me that the "magic" would make it strong enough, dent resistant, at the same time decreasing the weight and the expense.

Just wondering out loud... [I Don t Know]

Dan- Took the kids to the mega mall this week and was looking forward to seeing your plane and the sign Mikey did for you. They looked great! your other creations were hid behind a wall. Its funny how small things look from the main floor of the mall knowing how big your sign and plane actully are. So your next project there is to spruce up the main floor? Its always great to show the kids other Letterheads work, as they have been to a number a meets with me and realize what a Letterhead is.

Thanks for the kind words all.

The small block of HDU in the center of the moose's head could have been anything really as you note but we have plenty of scraps hanging around the shop so it really didn't costd anything. WOrking over the harder material gave me more to push on when I was bonding the Magic to the initial piece.
