You'll have to explain what barn find means I doubt there is too many of those in Oakland, but if you mix up your lettering paint with flattening paste and Smith's Cream, it will look pretty antique when it drys.

There's a good step by step in this month's AutoArt Magazine showing one method. They overthin One Shot and mix in talc to flatten it. The next day they rub a rag dampened with turps over the lettering to get the desired result.
Another method is to mix One Shot in clear and a flattening agent. The clear causes the O.S. to cover poorly and give a worn effect.
I just did a worn striping job a few days ago. I posted some pics over on the portfolio page. I used HOK striping urethane. I didn't add any catalyst so it dried flat. It also dried almost immediately. I used a rag dampened with Rapid Prep to give the desired effect. I was able to rub on the paint within ten minutes of painting.

I've had customer's with a shiny vehicle just go over it the next day with a buffer with compound and take off just as much as they want. When I lettered it I thinned out the 1-shot to make it easier for them. On a real "barn find" finish rat rod, or on my flat finish "Lancaster nose art" I lettered it, waited till it got tacky, then grabbed a hand full of dirt out of the garden and rubbed it over the lettering. The more you rub ,the okder it looks, and it automatically flattens and dulls all the colors. Pretty high tech ,huh ! I think there's examples of both on my website in the lettering section.

I take old barn board, layout and letter as usual, only I do not fill in all the lettering completely....not a dry brush but enough to make the lettering show (Jean and Ted).
I use srapy paint to "dust" the background to keep the texture...the flowers are plastic....
