The season finally for the tv show Extreme Home make over is about 20 miles from here. A friend of mine is in charge of the electrical wiring. They have several streets closed. They need 1000 volunteers to pull this off. A nearby furniture store is renting a bus and driving people past the site. The person is a single Mom who adopted 3 disabled/aids kids. The house was sinking. This past Thursday she was told she was the one chosen for the make over. The house was torn down yesterday. Tuesday my friend and his crew will be doing the electrical work on the new house.
The family is on a cruise in the Caribean on a private yacht. I have a friend who lives not far from the street where this is going on.

Extreme Home Makeover is a show Janis & I catch regularly and enjoy very much. While we realise it is a commercial venture of ABC, the kind acts and heart of the show still come through. Its my sincere hope that the show inspires people to do good for those around them.
Having been involved in a couple of small scale 'instant builds' as a leader/designer I appreciate the IMMENSE amount of organization this type of event/project takes to pull off. To do it on the scale of the Extreme show and to do a TV broadcast of the event at the same time is mind boggling to say the least.
To be directly involved in such a project is life changing for all involved. Memories created in those all too short and frantic days last a lifetime!

One of our customers.. is a designer on that show.. He is well knownd for HIs funiture designs .His own furniture was first displayed in the Museum of Contemporary Art in the early 1990s, and his knowledge is often drawn upon when the design team needs clarification on dating a certain piece or helping ensure that a room reflects the right design theme. I guess has designed everything from houses to silverware.... very talented man.. and just loves working on the show

I believe the show is great too. Though I am wondering how these famlies, people who get these houses built for them can afford them. One of the homes built recently was in the Ohio area (not quite sure where), but it was for a US soldier I believe. After a few months of living in the home, he had to sell it because the expense to run it was so high.
Don't get me worng. i love to help those who need it, but maybe if they built the homes more for the affordability of those that need it, would it make a little more sense.
For those of you who know some of the people that work for the show, etc. Get some of your handy work out there. See if you can't make up some signs or something. It'll be seen all over the world!
