Si sent me an email today that really meant a lot to me and effected me deeply. Others on his list got it also, I am sure.I thanked him via email, but wanted to thank him on the board, publicly, for all to see. I would hope that he would post it here for all to see and appreciate. It was sent as a private email, so I will leave it up to Si. Si, thank you again for the email, you are sometimes far more than an old curmudgeon.

...That's touching alright. And over 3000 American soldiers have had their lives WASTED for a stupid, unnecessary war, (started by religious fundamentalists in a crooked administration with HIDDEN motives.) ....why, why, WHY? And how many more must die... to accomplish WHAT?

I would hope that this thread does not turn into a political debate about the war. I posted the thank you to Si for sending the link to me. It is about our thoughts in regards to the TROOPS. Not the war or it's rightness or wrongness. Appreciate the link for what it says about the troops and our feeling for them and their sacrifices and the sacrifices of their families and freinds. Please...

Joey, Had you taken the time to read my first post in this thread, you would have been aware that I did thank Si personally by email. I thought the clip was profound enough that some here who are not on Si's email list may have felt the same if they saw it also. A public thank you was warranted in my opinion. I'm sure you would not be running your mouth if someone had given you a public high five for the very valuable info on paints and techniques on your web site. Your advice to me is respectfully disredgarded.I will thank, praise or disagree with whomever I please on this board. If I do disagree with someone, I will try to do it as diplomatically as I am able. Praise and thanks will be given out openly.

Until the USA starts to mourn for lives lost other than its own I don't think they will ever understand any other country outside themselves and will be prone to go start something they will find hard to finish again and again.
I am sorry for your lost troops and I am also sorry for the loss that Iraq is suffering which is, by number, far more. They are also father and mothers, brothers and sisters ETC.

That was a tear jerker alright. Si probably just sent it to his email list because it was a safe thing to do. Thanking him publicly in this forum invites people who feel differently to express themselves. It's easy to forget to feel compassion for the Iraqi woman who goes out to buy food for her family and gets blown up instead while we are consumed by our own patriotism.

Finally got it to come on for me. That was REALLY good. Sad.
Have any of you ever stopped to think what it would be like for our countries to be bombed continuously like others? We have no idea how it feels. I think about it sometimes, what would it be like for an invading country to come & take my house, my business, & all I have & throw me out, or shoot me for it. It happeens all the time out there.

OP - it's just a little naive to base your politics on a song spun by some mind-altered druggies of the 60's.
War...what's it good for? Ask the jewish population in Germany and Poland if they were glad for our intervention. I gotta feeling it made for a better world - sticking up for those that would have otherwise been piniata's for twisted dictators.
Funny how the anti-war crowd are human rights activists - except when it extends beyond our borders. I guess human rights have boundaries.

Todd, Since you are making such broad strokes with your pen I will reply.
Your intervention was not that. Your country was dragged kicking and screaming into the war that you refer to, (WW2) your country didn't pity Europe and help out but had itself bombed by the Japs and then came into the War.
I will generalise like you. Don't any americans read history. You weren't the heroes in WW2. you were the latecomers. you weren't sticking up for anyone but yourselves.
Todd. try to read others opinions and then reply with some knowledge and intellegence

What kind of sick bastard would slam the USA for it's roll in saving Europe? We had a lot of men die on foreign soil in that effort and I really resent your Ahmadinejad style bs.
