Got my new system all connected, installed the software key, tried to load Sign Wizard... "Sofware key not found" Called SW...it won't work with Vista....yet.
They emailed later and said that I could set up a "dual boot system" with my XP pro. I don't knwo if I want to wipe Vista off the machine just yet.
Does anyone know how to do this? Thanks

as I have posted. Vista is not ready for prime time.. IT will be at least 6 months before every one is up to speed.
The problem is that Vista drivers must be "signed" before they will work. Its another way of reducing your usage of your machine. Signed means they must pay M$ a fee to operate. And unsigned means you cannot use your stuff. Many vendors are simply refusing to pay extra for "older technology" In many cases read this as they are not goona pay for new drivers unless you pay first with an update.. That means they will be comming out with updates with a fee of course that you pay of course to get your stuff to work. Now we all know why guru's are hating Vista so much.
There is no compelling reason to updat4e to vista for any reason other than to hav enwe stuff.

I just did a Doc/Prog/Fav/Email swap-over for a neighbor who had a computer that was still running Windoze 95...
He bought a $1300 Dell with Duo processor, a gig of ram and fast hard drive... I was AMAZED at how slow and sluggish that machine was with Vista. My Duo machine with 2 gb of ram running XP is WAY faster. Even my old vinyl cutter computer with true dual processor P3 1000's with a 1.5 gb seemed faster.
Also had tons of trouble with the thing not wanting to connect to the Internet. I finally had to turn off all the extra network crap they had running and it would connect reliably.
The graphics were nice but not worth the speed trade-off in my opinion...

Wayne, since his computer was dead, I yanked his hard drive out and attached it to my computer as a slave... (could have hooked it to the new one but already had the cover off mine..) I then copied all his data over to mine, then copied it across the network to his once I had it.
I also burned it all to a cd and gave it to him as a backup.
Since his Quickbooks 2003 wouldn't run on Vista, I had to get 2007 for him and install that... some of his other software (catfish pond monitoring system, etc.) had to be re-installed from the original disks and actually ran on Vista...
Most of the stuff was in his My Documents on his hard-drive, the Quickbooks file was in the Quickbooks program folder and his Outlook info in .PST files in the Outlook folder...
Since the new Dell didn't come with a parallel card I installed one to run his old printer, as well as a serial card for the monitoring system and a voice modem...

We run Vista Business on our new workstations. You can configure some programs to run under the XP format. There are no drivers for Versa Works yet. I don't see any advantage of Vista yet. Our machines rated 5.3 on the vista site and woks well.
It will ask: Do you accept or decline every other mouse click. Drives you nuts. You will need lots of machine to work well. Stick with XP as long as possible. I don't think laptops have enough resources to work well with vista.

I have my WIN XP Pro CD ready to install on it. Do I just pop the CD in and install? Will it overwrite or delete VIsta in the process? Or will I need to uninstall Vista first?
