Got a backlit that has to be done on the inside of clear. Box is in a club along wall and is constantly handled & touched. I was thinking of doing part of the design as a reverse digital print on clear then laminating that with white to act as diffuser, then applying that to inside of clear lexan sheet.. Any thunks??

Hiya Mike,
Will this image be changing a lot, or is it pretty much a once and done? Also, would it be getting any UV exposure?
If it's once and done, I would print on clear, laminate it on a translucent white substrate and use a clear substrate in front to protect it.
If its going to change a lot, I would probably go with an aqueous inkjet print and sandwich a backlit print between 2 pieces of clear.

Havin' fun,

Checkers

Have it reverse solvent printed on 3M clear, install it on the back of a clear plex/poly sheet & then second coat the back with 3M translucent white vinyl.

Should work great if the backlighting is good.

(You may want to test the brightness of the white before applying.)

Good luck Mike!

3M 114 clear for the print. That part is easy. Im still working on methord for backlit prints that doesnt wash if I dont apply two prints. I just got some Arlon trans white for testing from my supplier so hopefully that will kill the need for 2 prints...maybe a 30% white difuser for your project?

Just a follow up ... process worked well

I second guessed myself and did 2 overprints, thinking the colour would be weak, I was wrong, a single pass looked great.

Same process for inside window decals, rolands can't print white (actually the xc540 can if you want, but we won't go there!) but they can sure cut white.
