Awhile back, I asked you all to pray for my Uncle Jerry who I was really close to. Last friday, Jerry passed away. He had severe lung disease and basically just smothered to death. I was visiting him at home every day to see how he was doing, as they had sent him home about three weeks ago. His son came from ohio to take care of him and see that he got whatever he wanted. Up until about two months ago, Jerry was getting around very well, even driving at times, but had oxygen going 24 hours a day. I never want to go through this again. I was there when he passed and I will never get it out of my mind. Its been hard to get back to normal and get work on my mind, but that old saying, life goes on is pretty much true. I just feel plain wore out. Now I have to take care of the paperwork cause Ol Unk wanted me to be his executor. Just wanted to thank everyone that offered prayer and thoughts.

I too was with my son when the time came and no it will always be with you.
What I can tell you is the same thing that was told to Kim and I by a lady who had lost her daughter years earlier. She said:
"Take it one day at a time while the sad memories are present. In time all the sad will go to the back of your mind and all the good times you had together will come to the front." Also she said:
"you will always have a broken heart, but it does not mean you will never smile again..You Will"
All in time John all in time.

John and Bobbie, you're in my prayers. And, even in the good times, I thank God for having the chance to know people like you. I'll pray for your peace and hope as I believe there is a beautiful place prepared for us beyond any comprehension. May peace be yours.

John, I have lost 2 Uncles in the last couple of years. The last was only a month ago. Both died from complications caused by the industry they worked in. One was age 63 and the other age 70. I miss them both and know all to well what you are going through. The fact that you were there I'm sure was comforting to your Uncle and his Family. This is a cross we as humans have to bare. It is never easy. My heart goes out to you in this time of sorrow.

I watched both my mother and mother-in-law wither and die from lung problems. They were both smokers into their 50's and 60's. Its an awful slow and drawn out way to go. I like what Sam said ...the bad memeories will go to the back and the good will come to the front.
Take care. You'll need it being executor.I pray that things will run smoothly.

John, sounds like you had a good & healthy relationship with your Uncle.sorry 2 hear the news.
years ago, i "reluctantly" volunteered to be the chaplain @ my Legion post, shows you how desperate some volunteer organizations can wind up,.......i only had to participate in 1/2 doz. funerals, it illustrated to me, we all will face the same end & our time was of our own spending til then. I'm sure uncle Jerry "invested" his well . if he's kin 2 you, no doubt. take care, springs here.Z

John, I'm sure it comforted your uncle to know that you were there with him so frequently and to the last.
He obviously thought a great deal about you, and hopefully that along with fond memories will serve to comfort you in your time of loss.
Through your many posts....you seem to be a wellspring of good-hearted, caring character. My prayers are with you and yours as you grieve the loss of your loved one.

I'm sorry to hear of your loss. My dad died from several lung issues related to smoking. It really impacts the way I look at smoking now. It really is a terrible way to go. I pray that you will have the grace to deal with his estate gracefully, and you will get through the grief as quickly as possible.
