Thanks For Any Replies that I get. Have A Encad NovaJet 630 the problem that we are having is The Carriage locks up with the Error message (Carriage Axis Failure)every now & then. Please Help!

Hiya Steve, I ran a pro 36 and a Novajet 700. It's time to replace the bushings on the carriage. Although the parts are inexpensive, it can be a real pain, because you may have to take a lot of the machine apart. Since I had a service contract, I would just call tech support and they would be out the next day to fix it.

There are several reasons why you might be suffering from this "carrier axis error"...
One is that you must make sure the printer is fairly level and the material is being fed into the printer freely. Also, make sure you never touch or bump the printhead carrier while it travels across the printer. It is fairly sensitive and will detect the slightest bump and go into the "axis error".
Another cause is grime and dust built up on the carrier rods. It is important that you keep your printer covered up to keep it dust free and you keep your rods clean. I always cleaned mine off with some isopropyl alcohol on a lint free cleaning cloth before I did my printing.

Make sure there is no dry ink on the bottom side of the guide bar. It wont take much.
The bushings can be nursed a little. The ink is in the poors of that sintered brass. You can use some RApid Remover just a cuple drops on the guide bar and move the head by hand and then clean the bar a few more times. This will get you by for a day or two each time until your new bushings get there,
