My customer has requested a design to be reflective of the theme surrounding "The Old Mill" and named his apartment after it. Some of you may know the exact area, and others may be able to visualize the theme.

I've gotten to this point.

(Sorry, I can't get the file to upload. I'll try again later)

This is a major job for me. This sign will be my biggest painted sign at 16x8' on di-bond or alumacorr. I want to stretch the limits of my abilities without going too far and I'm stuck. Could I get some suggestions please?

We need much more information on something like this Mike....from junker to Cadillac..what do they wanna spend?
Ya gotta think like Dan Antonelli first. Get the design locked in .....GET PAYED FOR IT>!
Number one sign painters mistake..not getting what it's WORTH.

When that is reached, THEN you can throw the bells and whistles at it.

Let's get the horse IN FRONT of the Cart...

There are thousands of ways to do "the OLD MILL"

I'd like to help you......

No worries there Mike. He's signed off on the initial design which I'd like to embellish.

I'd like for you to help me. Thanks for the offer, and I'll be back when I can figure out the photobucket thingie.

Mike....I'm a little slow on the uptake here. If this is the design your customer has signed off on, what is it you are asking us to do?

Have you given a price and received a deposit?

Here's an old mill which has been converted to an antique shop & restaurant.
Doug Elder, from Emlenton, does all the signs up there.

Mike, if he's signed off on it, then to me, THAT'S IT. No embellishing. Because if,you embellish it, it will not be what he signed off on. ?? right?

Are you asking us to help embellish, the already signed off on design,on it's building,? with it's buildings?, with the Mill? Is there an exsisting mill on the land? SO many questions...?????????

Sorry but gotta get to the core of what ya need.

Mike when the name "old Mill" comes to mind, or any name comes to mind, I never use a rectangle or square, unless it has to fit a certain area. I use David Butler Gold for my backdrops, and shapes. No one can make the "Feel" that I like than David. I don't just pluck one out of his book all the time, I make my own using certain elements he provides, then weld, cut, paste, outline, group, compound, etc. to get the look I want....It's hard to explain and seeing the actual rough outline makes all the difference.
I have a piece of artwork that I just did that would let you understand the concept that I speak of......It's for a customer who makes Chick Incubators into coffee tables.......

Mike's right. A tricked out David Butler Gold panel and a jigsaw and you'll have a hell 'uv a sign. The artwork you have right now looks great. It just needs to be wrapped in a stylish "box". Maybe incorporate some light vertical pinstripes to break up the cream background. But that's it. It looks very nice.

Thank you Dave!

This was roughly taken off the original board that came off an incubator..(No chicks were hurt during the dismanteling of the incubator)
It was done with David Butler elements, and Letterhead fonts.

The Chick was scanned from an old "Country Gentleman's" magazine from the 1900's.

Mike,I think you're right about the shape. I was stuck in the safety zone with the rectangle. Duhhh

Yes he signed off, with the understanding I wasn't quite satisfied with it.

I appreciate the bump in the right direction.
