Hello,

I am looking at purchasing a new plotter.

Summa's new S-Class (T -series) Or Graphtec's FC7000 series.

Have any of you purchased either one of these and are you happy with them?

I need to be able to cut sandblast mask which both claim they can do.

Pros & Cons would be helpfull

Big thanks for those who take the time to respond.

Hi Tom,

I don't know if you remember me, but I worked at Crosby's and you trained me to run the router.

I don't know much about those 2 plotters but I had a guy who worked for me and he had an older model of the Summa and it always (I mean always) seemed to cut perfctly didn't matter what we put in it, magnetic, sandblast maske etc.

Hope things are going well.

Tom, I dont know much about the graphtec, but the shop I work at runs an older summa t-series signpro 750 and the thing is bulletproof. Never had a problem and tracks great. Good luck- I'd like to know what you end up getting, and how it works.

I have a Summa T750 on it's 4th year with absolutely no hitches. I cut mask and everything else accurately with no problems. I know Graphtec makes a good machine also, but I'm really happy with my Summa. And, I can't say enough about Summa's support when you need them.

My 2 centavos.

I have a Summa D-750 Pro.....(30", dual servo motors) and it goes out of registration cutting 6 feet of Hartco standard blast material....

Don't know what that means as far as how it compares to a Graphtec.

A buddy of mine just bought a new FC7000 graphtec and it's a really nice machine - but again, he doesn't cut sandmask.

My Summa - other than hating the lcd/control interface - cuts and tracks regular vinyl very well. Based upon my own sandblast mask experience with it, I couldn't really say it's great.

currently running the S class and cuts sandblast perfect with allowable accomodations. Had a older graphtec also. Can't go wrong with either in my book.

Last 2005, I bought me a Summa T750 SL. Works great. I bought the Summa because they sell them out of Seattle, Wa. up here. I just drive up there and got one. The guy even threw in a bunch of free blades. At the time, it cost me $5200.00. Except for taking it out of my truck, I was able to set it all up by myself.

Tom,Summa opened a branch in MA in the last year or so.
U can must likely cut a good deal on a demo unit or a repaired plotter.
I think there are only 3 really well made plotters.Muto,Summa,Mimaki & maybe Allen Datagraph[i think the only USA manufactured plotter, from NH.]
Pick anyone,only my thoughts,good luck.

Have a 10 year old 24" Graphtec and I wouldn't buy anything else. I also sold plotters for a sign supply Company in St. Louis and Graphtec was hands down the best out there. We have had no problems at all and it cuts everyday. They also are very competitive lately on price. Shop around and go see them working if possible.

Sign-cerely, Steve
