Brian will probably be embarassed to read this, but I started thinking about what will happen to the Letterhead movement when us old farts move on to the big easel in the sky. I came to the conclusion that we're in great shape because of some of the "kids" coming along.
I was reading the recent Signs of the Times and saw an article by Brian Briskie about working from your home. The article featured Brian and Amy Papa, who many of you remember from the Sign Circus, The Safari Meet, and Atlantic City Bullpen, among others. Although I haven't visited Brian's shop (yet), we managed to get together recently for lunch and I was very impressed with his sense of history and especially with the story about his mentor - a man who I would imagine is about to bust with pride to see how far his protégé has taken his talent.
The December SignCraft mag had a picture of Brian striping a guitar at the Dixie Meet - he also did a killer job on my wife's laptop in cahoots with another legacy, Ryan Young. Add to that list Steve Greer, Mark M, Donald Thompson and a whole bunch of "kids" that will keep this spirit alive.
Check out Brian's site - www.papastudios.com - and you'll see what I'm talking about. No worry, the kids will not only keep it going, but bump it up a notch or two.......

Brian and Amy are both incredibly cool people. They even have a cool dog! I remember meeting Spider at the Waukesha meet in 2001. He was so laid back, yet friendly, intelligent, and very talented. Talking to both of them at Dixie this year was so interesting...they have pulled up roots and blossomed in what to them had to be an alien landscape. If the Letterhead movement is passed on through such capable hands, it should last a lonnnng time. Love....Jill PS There is something about guys who grease their hair!

Sadly, I was glued to my easel most of Dixie & didn't get to meet Brian til the end of the meet. What a really nice guy too! One of the best stripers I have met, & he is NOT full of himself, like so many! I will be looking for him at the next meet!
edited to add...Brian even took the time to sign & stripe my brush box! Thank you Brian, wherever you are!
