My customer said he wanted his walls lettered, and I asked if he could wait til warmer weather. The temp was in the low 20's. He said,"I can make it warm for ya."
The heater(under the canopy on the left) is called a dragon. I had a thermostat inside the plastic, and could select my own temperature. Notice the silver pipe that runs along the top of the plastic. The pipe goes over the roof to the other side of the building. We kept the temp at 65 and I was working in jeans and a denim shirt with the sleeves rolled up. Most of the time the temp outside was in the 20's, except one day that reached 52 and delivered 3 inches of rain. I just kept on paintin. The only problem I had was trying not to sing along with my MP3 player, cause there were other people within hearing distance .
This is the finished project.
edited to try to make the pics show.

Damn that is a nice clean job. I also like it that you had sort of an isolation chamber, to keep nosy people out! Love....Jill

Thanks guys(no gender intended jill), but the isolation chamber did not work that well. We had to leave a flap loose to get in and out, and you wouldn't believe how many people found that and came on in to see what was going on. And some would stand outside in the cold and ask questions. That's when I would start to sing along with Kris Kristofferson on the MP3 player, and they would just... go away.
Still a fun job though.

Man thats really cool. I could really use that today. I'm working on the windows of a pharmacy and its way too cold and windy outside to do anything today.

Don, sir, it ain't you ,i honestly don't think Kris can sing to begin with !
Being appreciated by some customers is still one of the few joys i find being a sign painter, glad you were. PS: if that happens again....just use a West virginia air brush & spray on the plasti : One-Shot Tent Revival Healing Line Entrance !
donations accepted
( i think the donation part should do the trick regarding the anti-spectator purpose....my ol' Pastor Hutch had me make a good sized bumper sticker for our church trailer that read : Tithe is you love Jesus...anybody can Honk ! )
naturally i still honk ! Zman if i get time i'll upload a pic of the transom job we did 3 years ago......you'll love the name-honest !

You really lucked out Don, it is amazing how somw customers will go all out to help you and others wouldn't lift a finger. I have been told that there was heat and lite, but upon arriving there was a 10 watt bulb at one end of the building and the heat had broken down.

I am sure some will think I did the wrong thing, but I am going to tell it anyway.
When pricing this project I added to the price, because like Bill said, they can promise you anything, but you never know what you will get.
After the project was completed I informed the customer that I was giving him a discount for providing such a nice worksite, and subtracted the amount I had added.
Ther ARE good customers out there, and once in a while we actually get to work for them.
