It might be just the excuse we need to go see Mickey after the meet...

Lets see...February - Saskatchewan or Florida? Interested? Yep! Florida is one of the cheapest places to fly from Saskatchewan. Are you bringing one of those young lads to Moose Jaw Pat? Whose turn is it?

Hmmmmm, beginning of Feb Speedweeks, end of Feb beginning of March Bike Week. All that's missing is a Letterhead Meet! Sounds like you got a winner there!

Raceweek this year starts the second weekend in February. Bikeweek is the first week in March. Not sure what the schedule for next year is yet. Daytona is a little over an hour from my shop so I could schedule the meet for one of those weekends for folks that want to run up there for a day. (But you'll miss all of the fun here!)
Kelly...it's Nick's turn to go to a meet but, unfortunately, Moose Jaw is out this year. Trying to put something together for the little guy before he turns 6 in June.
Here's a look at some of the fun from the first Migration...

Painting panels and banging panels, Ilove it. I'm in for the meet and the day trip to the big one in Daytona. If it's on lets get together and buy a block of tickets for the NASCAR race. Maybe look into some sort of party bus rental for the trip to the track to save the grief of parking etc. You know if you hold it in the winter that it guaranties a wack of snowbird letterheads from our frigid north, eh. I still think that those of us that enjoy the drive south can still cross the boarder with out having to stand in a 8 hour line to get new passports.

Pat...A Feb meet would be nice but we will be practicing our Spanish then.
Sandy...If I understand correctly, you might as well figure on standing in line for a passport. By Feb 2008 you'll probably need one to enter the USA by car.

I realize that it's hard to decide so far in advance whether you can make a meet or not. I just got kinda bummed about not to get too many responses - my fault, no one elses.
I'll do it. We had so much fun the last time that I just can't not.
Here's the response so far...(selective quotes on my part)
Luke – I'll be looking forward to the next one Dan – just the excuse Susan – I could be very interested! Kelly – Interested? Yep! Mike – Sounds like you got a winner there! Sandy – a monk in need of heat Jon – MOST DEFFFF..... Jimmy – wont be able to make it this time. – bummer – we’ll miss you a lot! Dave – we will be practicing our Spanish then – you’ll fit right in here in Florida Don T- We would surely be there Nettie – Sounds good. Jill – look like yins all had a blast – A banner would be awesome Jilly – nothing like body painting in person tho… Don H – I can stop kicking myself for missing the first one Dale – sounds like a great idea to me Pat Mike F – I think I can, I think I can Judy – count me in on the next one,Pat! Nancie – That sounds like fun! Sandy – I don't want to wait for 2 years.

Barb and I try to make every meet we possibly can. There's nothing more I'd enjoy than the opportunity to create another "Call Steve" on the Ladies Restroom wall.

You'll have to come back down and re-do your 'signature' cuz we had to refinish the bathroom after the hot water heater decided to explode and take out all of the drywall in the ladies room. Had to replace all of it and repaint.
But there is a whole new canvas available for your perversion... ; )

Sounds like a good reason to get away from the cold next winter. Any idea what dates yet, Pat? I know getting a flight to Florida can be a PITA when school vacation weeks hit.

Those dates are just about when the kids have spring break and they have been after me to go see Mickey for the last couple of years. We'll start saving for airfare. It will be a great excuse to escape the frozen tundra. Count us in

I've been getting emails and calls and the meet WILL be held 22-24th of February 2008 - that's Friday to Sunday. You are more than welcome to come down sooner. I have room on my property for campers and tents.
What really surprised me was the calls from suppliers. I already have offers from 3 companies to supply samples and door prizes.
This is gonna be a good one - hope you can make it.

A lot of interest in this one even though it's a long way off. I gotta get going on a logo and registration form.
Here are some of the goings-on that I have so far:
Running a Business - Not a Sign Shop - Roundtable
From my experience, this is a topic that is usually discussed one-on-one at the meets. I thought it would be a good idea to focus on running a shop from a profit standpoint. Subjects can include: determining overhead costs, determining market area(s), workflow management, estimating, invoicing and collecting, marketing, networking and customer retention.
Bring your forms - estimates, invoices, work orders, production sheets, any forms that make you work flow through your shop; marketing materials - flyers, postcards, mailouts, newsletters, business cards, copies of yellow page ads and any other forms of advertising that you use; lists of software that you use for contact and time management, estimating, production management, and invoicing; portfolios and any other ideas that can be brought to the table to discuss.
Gold Leaf
Not sure if I'll have another fire truck to do this time but we'll surely have surface leaf projects going and maybe some glass gilding demos.
Sandblasting and Carving
We have the carving tools and two blasting booths here - all are welcome to use them. We’ll have mask, cedar, HDU and computers available also. Bring your EPS or AI files.
Glass Chipping
I always thought that this was cool. I haven’t tried it but maybe we can get someone here who knows how to do it.
Mural Painting
I’ve go plenty of wall space outside my shop. I’m hoping to get a design ready for some walldoggin’.
Panel Jam
Of course.
Airbrushing
People always bring their airbrushes. I have a few here too to play with.
Digital Printing in a Modern Shop
They’re tools – I put ‘em to use.
All the rest of the stuff
Food, music (karaoke?) catch up with old friend, make new ones, talk about a$$hole customers, talk about GREAT customers, talk about ‘heads’ that didn’t make the meet, behind their backs , look forward, look back, good jokes, bad jokes, and a whole lot of camaraderie.
So, plan on coming down – this will be a “glad I was there” kinda meet. Hope you can make it...
