I upgraded to IE 7.0 yesterday. It has messed up everyhing. Now I cannot access all sights on the web. I cannot open my email at all.

I have restored my computer to 4 days ago but that did not fix the problem. I cannot access the Microsoft site.

Can anyone help me and tell me how to correct this problem. My restored computer tells me I am back on IE 6.0 but evidently 7.0 left some setting that did not cancel.

Thanks for your help.

u have to delete IE 7.. goto the control panel and take it out..

And I wish people would quit using the restore moduel..
It is not the cure all fix all. The restore panel has made me more money than the recycle bin does..

Oh yes. IE 7 update adds more than just a browser. If you read the ULA you will be surprised at all the other junk they add in.

I'm still bumfuzzled that an IE upgrade, earlier than yours, screwed up my scanner. If you haven't heard this before, it took me a damned long time to find the needle in that haystack. This kind of crappy planned obsolescence is uncalled for. Once burned is twice warned, and 3 times means somebody isn't paying attention.

Thanks everyone. My daughter-in-law is a computer guru and she is coming to fix the problem. She had already experienced the problem with a client of hers on the IE 7 beta download --the beta downlowad shut down the entre automobile dealership's printers. She fixed that and now they are operating on the IE 7 with no problems. Hope she can do the same for me. It is interesting to note that I called sbcglobal tech support because I have their DSL and the Level 2 tech told me they could not help me -- in his opinion my computer had other problems and I needed to take it to a computer tech. It's interesting to note that my computer is working fine with the exception of the internet. Oh well, hopefully I will be up and running again soon.

Thanks again everyone for your reply.

My daughter downloaded 7 onto our home computer (without permission [Frown] ). It won't let me access my "Favorites" files. Also, to save favorites on 7, you have to sign up with Google, and then your favorites are no longer saved on your computer, but on Google's server. I'm deleting it too, and going to Firefox (which I use on my work computers). Microsoft, ya' screwed the pooch again.

Tim, I'm not arguing with you, but find what you're saying about favorites a bit odd. We've downloaded and installed both the IE7 Beta and now the final IE7 Release and have not had any problems. The favorites works just fine and no one in our offices or at my home is registered with google. I just simply add a favorite by using the add to favorites menue, or by using "cntrl D". No problems at all??

I wonder if there is a security update that installs with the IE7 update that is responsible for all the hassles and is getting blamed on IE7. I will say we've had some nightmare networking problems with a few database shipping programs recently related to security updates from Microsoft, but not one single issue with IE7. The funny thing is, we are really liking IE 7, and I think it's either based on Firefox, or one heck of a copy of it.

Good luck everyone.

Thanks for the "ctrl - d" tip. That works. The deal is tho, when I either hit the "blue star" icon or "bookmarks" tab, I get a screen requesting my email addy and a password to access my Google account to access my "favorites". Anyone else getting this?? I have used IE at home out of habit, and really do like Firefox better, so this is a good enough incentive to change.

Good luck Tim, what it sounds like is you're daughter may have unknowingly added the Google toolbar as well, or even the google desktop. It's very common nowdays to have the yahoo toolbar and google toolbar add ons bundled with software updates ( IE: Adobe reader etc..) and driver disk installs. Be VERY aware of all the check boxes and information menues popping up during an apdate of software or an install of say a new printer, etc.. Simply clicking through without reading the fine print can install all kinds of usless goodies that love to tie up resources or cause you much frustration.

Luckily the IE7 upgrade failed to install on my computer. After hearing all the problems with it, I no longer have a desire to try it. Firefox works great as an alternative.

Shirley, I would have to agree with the level 2 tech. Your internet access was working fine before the upgrade. Now it isn't. It's almost guaranteed to be a problem with your computer, rather than the internet service that sbcglobal is providing. If any company is responsible, it's Microsoft.

Seems to work here too, but the computer is running slower than it use to.

I finally figured out how to access the email! [Smile] They certainly hid a few things this round.

I like that Microsoft quit supporting the Mac OS with IE so I don't even have the option to try it....as if?

Safari works great....several years of use no problems...

what are pop-ups?

Sorry steve, But the problems are stemming from the lock down of the OS and theremoval of certain features within. Not due to some CPU processor.

For example. The screen capture features and other streaming media features are being changed or removed. The reason is the media providers do not want you to capture theor content any more.

Concerts, musicals etc will be purchased and streamed high speed to your machine. If yoru machien could cap all that then they feel the market would suffer.

And, more of your machine resoruces are being diverted to operate phone home technology under the disguise of keeping your machine pirates from using illegal copies of software.

The actual agenda is the subscription systems comming on line. For example. They constant flow up updates etc for M$ XP. you paid for all that with a much higher price for XP. And if you purchase XP or Vista over the counter you pay a huge fee to subsidize the copeis of XP installed on DELL and GATEWAys etc..
