Magoo, I would never pray for patience for myself but I think that its needed here in your case. God, Please give him the patience with the people that are trying to care for him and help him to recover. Take care.

A beautiful morning it is indeed, greetings kind ppl. of Letterville:
It's going to take alittle time for me to absorb four pages of kindness, but you ppl. have made me one humble, proud person today, thank you from the bottom of my heart, I'm sure if Scotty could convey, he would echo my sentiments...your compassion and love is no less than outstanding!!! (OK-prone time,brb-maybe)
OK, let's start w/the accident; Sat. morn., I was on a major city street at about 11:30/noon, headed to a friend's bbq/car show, a really cool event, one I've missed three years running for one reason or another, none of which I could have done any other way, that's just the way timing is sometimes...Traveling in the third lane; to me the fast lane or third lane is closest to center line to explain which lane I was in, er, we...I was fourth in a line of eight as it turns out, I had no idea of how many were behind me at first, eventually, I met the first one up close...the first car in our lane, came to a complete stop from 45/50 mph to slowly pull into left turn lane. This is where the sequence begins; as the other two in front of me as I, using normal driving rules, had enough room to do this w/o running into each other; came to a halt, no muss, no fuss; I was slightly left of 4x4 in front of me, and a good 12-15' between us, I saw traffic starting to move again as first car then sped away in same lane she had just stopped in to turn left... At this time I checked on Scotty, as in my side vision during this come to a halt, I'd noticed his normal reaction to having to brake hard, he jumps forward on cushion seat and side jumps to floor, breaking his fall and giving him "some" stability...He was ok and headed back to his normal perch when I looked into rearveiw mirror to see this guy barreling down on me, focused on his wife, who he was yelling at and she was screaming at him, grabbing the dash, her eyes as big as saucers, I don't think he even seen me, but he sure as hell hit me!!! From here on I'm still fuzzy, but I know I got hit twice, I somehow grabbed Scotty, as he flew by the second time from back seat where I ended up...it ripped my seat out of it's mountings, including seat belt hold down, bolt/nut and plate that used to be part of the frame of the truck, broke back of seat and that's where I ended up when it was over...sorry, prone time, bbl... Ah, better, for abit at least, heheh...anyway, in all of this I'd called a friend that came and took charge of Scotty, (they also had their vet check him out right away), and tow/impound my truck for safekeeping, I remember his son Robert on scene taking Scotty, then it gets real fuzzy from here, but I didn't care, Scotty was safe...say what ya will, y'all love em as much as I do, so there, lol...end results are, Scotty's got a clean bill of health so far, later today he has to be seen by his regular vet, whom he has a history with, going to spring for a full grooming treatment too, might have em airbrush his nails to emulate wings, lol...he did aeronautically tour that burb twice...
Now, I must touch a nerve, please bear with me till you hear me out, please...there are some so far that have taken a collection, please, don't do this to me, I can't accept your money, regardless of the kindness behind it, I'm sorry, there is a really good reason for this, but I'll not tell it. It's about integrity or the lack of it by someone that should have known better, but it happened and from that point on, I promised to never allow it to happen again...it may seem silly to you, this position I've adopted, but it's only way I can ensure myself to never go thru a similiar incident again, which if not obvious by now, left a painful mark upon me and kind ppl. like you will also, unwittingly, pay for it too, as I can't and won't accept any of your money, please don't make me return it, as return it I will if sent!!! Trust me on this one, I will never be put in that position again by anyone for any reason, no matter how callous or cold that may sound, that's the way it is and will be... I'm sorry, the meds are making me mean...prone time again, longer maybe this time, bbl...frank

Frank - you are (and have always been) an inspiration to us. You are a man of character and integrity...and there are not many of those kind around anymore.
It's good to hear your voice and know that you are recovering.
You will probably hear a lot of "that happened to me once" stories, so I'll tell you mine. Actually it was my wife, Jeanne. She was just a block from the studio and waiting in the left turn lane behind two other cars when the same thing happened to her....a man and wife in an arguement (old full steel pickup) and hit her going about 45 MPH. Never braked. It smashed her Mazda 626 into the car in front and the car buckled in the middle. The trunk was almost to the back of the front seat and the dash and steering wheel were in Jeanne's lap. The air bag and seat belt saved her, but broke her sternum. She's fine now.
And we are all glad that Scotty is safe and being cared for. Like you, we consider him part of the family.
Do what they tell you and recover real fast. We need you out there.

It is said that "It pays to be a winner" and you're a winner. I know that you won't let this beat you; you'll dig deep and come out of it on top. Take things a day at the time and as they come. Break it down into little pieces and beat them one at the time.
As to the moron clerk, I think a lawsuit is in order to teach them a lesson; they let you suffer in pain, chiding you because you were physically unable to remember a phone number. Heck, I don't even know my own cell number. You need to mention this to your lawyer. And get a GOOD one too!
I woke up this morning and you were on my mind within the first minute. Just wanted to say that we really do care about you and are praying for your recovery.

No time like the present my grandfather used to say...I'd like at this time to start my thank you process...it may seem a bit unorthodox, but I feel it's only way to properly say thank you to so many for so much... As I've read thru these posts, multiple feelings come over me, one of those is a natural human trait, and that is the enjoyment inside, for whatever reasons, felt when seeing ones name or reference in print, which I experience every post...to even get close to a proper thank you,(nailing it won't happen, there aren't enough words in the english language to express my appreciation accurately, it's that big a deal to me) I've decided to return that feeling to each and everyone of you in appreciation of the kindness expressed here in last few days...
THANK YOU: Doug Allan, first responder OP, I got the names Joe, can I hide out w/you?lol Tim Rieck, yea, ya got whl.car duties come march Boone, my friend Dusty, Miles, Sarge, Bill Dirkes, Dale Manor, Joe Crumley(hurt huh?), Rod Tickle, Cat(luv ya), Mike Clayton, Patrick Whatley, Stevo, Ian, Jill(teaching left to take over all chores now), Jeff Ogden(sure-got a new body hanging around?), Nettie, Si(who I scared the hell out of), Rixx, Jake(can I get 50gals. of that paint?), Grahmn Parsons, Prairie Kid(kelly), DC Donna, Tony Vickio, Dawg(woof-woof), George Perkins, Stickerpimp, Bob Kaschak(peace out), Alicia(we got to talk-like your idea-lol), Smooth Greer, lovely Kimberly, the Peaches(furball rubbed), the Percells, Cisco(Tocayo),Jimmy Chatham(could teach patience), Bob Burns(yep-PO'd good), RT(Fred's? hopefully, this took the ride for sure)

you need a place...me casa, su casa...and you can bring that ugly dog....)))))))) and you need help with that little task....i gotchur back. funny thing bout bruises....they will take on whatever put them there. back at the rehab place i lived at...25 people there. we had a saw mill operation and some equipment. one day i was out workin on the R-2 dozer(small catapiler with blade). it was an old one and was hand crank. well we figured out if you park it with the blade sittin on a block, there was a hook on the back side of the blade....you could hook a chain to and pull it 5 ft and it would run. the only truck we had was an old pepsi truck you know those that haul cases out to deliver. we took off the case haulin body and replaced it with racks so we could haul logs on it. its a big truck, has to be to pull a 7 ton dozer. went out to start it up, i got the chain and put it on the hook, this guy named "strokes", hes a city boy...got in the truck, you supposed to wait till the buzzer goes off before you move it, it has air brakes and the buzzer tells you dont have enough air pressure to stop the truck. he backed it up(with the buzzer still goin) to the dozer which was on a slight incline, truck was on high side......so iam directing him back so i can hook the 10' chain to the truck....he gets it close enough for me to hook the chain, i wave him to stop he hits the AIR BRAKES... it made that CHUUU CHU SOUND so i stepped in between the truck and the dozer blade....and was tryin to get chain hooked to truck, i was bent over when i noticed the truck was movin me backward toward the dozer blade....now i know iam in trouble.... i stood straight up and grabed the dozer blade with my right hand, my left arm just above the elbow was against the end frame of the truck....and it KEPT COMIN BACK.....thought i was gona die...i felt the blade of the dozer against my right hip, and something pushin on the left cheek of my butt....and it kept squeezin me.....iam screamin....and cussin.... strokes finally get the truck in forward gear(lucky he didnt leave it in reverse and let out the clutch, i wouldnt be tellin the to anyone)he moved the truck off me, i went down in a heap.... he came back iam layin on the ground in pain...and he wants to know if ia ok...BOY I LET HIM HAVE(verably)......I WAS STILL AWAKE AND MAD...and not able to get up!!!! i told him if he ruiend my sex life i was gona KILL HIM!!!! 10-15 min later iam able to stand, but now the ambulance is there.....and they want to know where the guy is that was crushed....i said here i am...the got the gruney and tellin me to get on it.....its like 50 feet from the ambulance...and i tell them NO..ILL WALK TO THE AMBULANCE...you guy might drop me and really hurt me between her and there!!!!! they made get on the gurney. trip to hospital guys monitorin my bp tellin em iam in shock cause my bp is 110/60 and iam tellin him that what it is normally. so we get to hospital, lay around almost an hour before i get looked at, they do X RAY FROM NECK TO ANKLES... no broken bones.....they cant belive this when told why iam there. so i get some pain pills(normal proceedure)and send me home. iam sore, and hurtin so i go to bed.... next day iam feelin pretty good but feel like i been run over by a bus hehehehe. now the funny part...the bruise...that evening i go down to take a shower, and it like a high school shower more the one can shower at a time, and one of the guys in the shower looks at me and busts up laughin....now i want to know what so funny i dont still fell 100%....he tell me look in the mirror at my left butt..... i go to the shavein area and was a big mirror there...and on my left butt cheek...was this perfect circle, of the big round tailight that those big trucks have....right down to the 3 holes for the mounting screws, THE X FOR THE PHILLIPS HEAD SCREWS.....and you know the print these plastic lenses have on them.. PAT PENDING 293848575637547323 VISALL LIGHTING around the outside edge ? well...IT WAS STAMPED INTO MY BRUISE.....AND YOU COULD READ THE NUMBERS.....took almost a month before it was gone!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Frank! Glad to see you're here. Isn't this place incredible??
I got a 3 ring binder and printed off all the good wishes that everyone wrote out for Bruce while he was in the hospital. He came across it the other day unpacking, and looked through the cards and notes that people send as well.
This place really touches your heart with all the people and caring. Even this weekend, reading the cards again, seeing the signatures, the notes, words and such... you can feel it.
People will choose to help you. They do for their own reasons. While it may be difficult for whatever your reason is to accept, please remember that what people do for you, is also being done for them.
Don't even GO there when it comes to medical bill stuff, cuz I swear we are never gonna have his paid off!! Heck, at the bare minimum monthly payment, it will be 117 years for us to pay off the hospital bill alone (seriously!!)
Rest up, do what you're told, no heroics. Be thankful for the gifts you receive, including being able to come back here. Use this place as part of your recovery.
Tummy rubbies to Scotty!!

This being beat up stuff is for the birds...
Didn't do anything medical today, spent most of it dealing w/suburban...friend picked me up this morning and we went to private impound lot it was in to check it out as to extent of damage and it's roadworthiness...
Good news, it's not as bad as I'd been led by some to believe, (truck that hit me, went over the hitch, didn't get the frame, just lots of metal damage)... but in all fairness, they aren't the body guy, I am and it's not bad...if you call both wrinkled qtr. panels and wrinkled roof not bad...it's got enough extensive damage to be totalled, which I suspect the ins. co will...
Rear doors are pinched shut, tailgate ceases to resemble anything like it used to, glass everywhere, torn bumpers, any idea how thick that steel is? I've got some sections that are ripped as clean as knife cuts, damn...
The interior is a mess, tach was torn out of door by left knee which is now starting to show it's face(it hurts now whereas it didn't before), the seat, well, it's toast...I've never seen the seatbelt attachment pad pulled out of the frame before and I've been doing cars all my life, mine is...
Little nuances all over are showing silent testimony as to the force that truck endured, chips on doors edges, inches away from where they come into contact w/other metal...could go on and on....got pics, wait till you see rear license and bumper.....have to send them to Si to get them posted, taking some time as I just took em today, patience my little paint slingers....heheheh
To finish up my thank you, tonites list WILL include who's left from other nites start, can't sit long, so I'm fingering as fast as I can and still stay accurate...sorry for lapses in time...

Frank, sounds like it's a good candidate for a Magoo's Monster Garage makeover...
I'll help you design it up... put the back bumper on 10 foot air ram cylinders... put it on a motion sensor that detects cars coming up too close, and automatically activates. Could rig it up so if you're parked at a stoplight, anchors would automatically drop down, similar to the Indy car jacks.. to keep your truck from propelling forward while bashing the car behind you.
Mount a video camera on the back so you can post the videos on Letterville....
All kinds of ideas..

(for those that have never had the pleasure, Lil Toot, son of (heheh) Big Toot, is a very talented young fella from Tulsa, not an easy place to compete in, what w/ the likes of Ron Meyers working there also... He's a gentleman, and my friend by choice)... I hope to see you at Fred's this year, but this ordeal may ruin all plans for this year, what w/therapy and all now, we'll see... I'm supposed to go to Detroit in March, doesn't look good for that, but, good news...same level of shop here has agreed to finish Honda in time to debut it in Detroit!!!!! At least some good will come of this...huge feather if pulled off...
Well, today was interesting, now I'm seeing a "dedicated" doctor, this will be my "main man" for the duration...can't say as to whether or not we'll end up friendly, but right now, he's ahead...let me explain, Bill Preston pay attention here, you're going to love this!!! Seems this doctor sits on staff at hospital I was admitted to last sat. and had such a time with, wasn't amused one bit w/my story...took names and didn't as much say so, but I feel some butts may be on way to chewing or, better yet, a higher level of disipliniary action, suits me...
He probed and prodded me, x-rayed me again, drank a load of berrymin(sp) and xrayed again and again...bad news is, it isn't the kidney, it's the spleen and it's bruised(longer healing process I guess is the difference), I showed him bottle of anivara(sp) I had, he concurred, I'm taking it now...the other glitch is line he found on lumbar which he thinks is a crack...tomorrow I do CTI's and MRI's...their looking further into that line and then into nerves coming out of neck to shoulders and midriff...trying to find reason for rt. arms numbness, numb hell, I can't hardly feel the damn thing!!! Useless this way, other than maybe learning how to hit a t-ball w/it...(got to watch that Frank, hear he's got a wicked right arm swing!!) I know I'm a bit paranoid, but it seems everyone in my mirror is too close and coming on too fast, weird... Found out Nevada has a new state law concerning animals in clinics, not allowed...Scotty spent morning in care of centers administrator, she took him for a "walkie" and fed him treats, but she said, he never took his eye off of the door I had left thru...he's not been the same since sat, can't move an inch and he's moving w/me, won't leave my side and like today when forced to, acted nervous and skiddish till I came back, poor lil fella, sure hate to see this, but hopefully over time, he'll return to his normal free for all personality... Well, it's that bound up, tight as all hell time again, got to get prone, try out new meds, see if I can get over an hour or two of sleep, sure hope so, my bags got bags...

It's sure good to read that you're getting some good medical care now. Susan says that if the nurses at her hospital treated a patient like those did you, and a staff doctor got wind of it, things would get ugly in a hurry for the nurses.
Hope you get some good sleeps. I assume that one of the new meds covers the sleep thing.

Toby was the same way with Bruce when he got back from the hospital. I had to practically peel him outta Bruce's armpit to take him outside. Wouldn't dare leave his side. Of course, with being nek-kid (Toby NOT Bruce...!) he would snuggle right under the blanket and not come out for nothing.
Scotty is gonna be REALLY sore, and you won't have a clue how much, since these lil guys are VERY stoic. There are some medications they can have for the discomfort, some can have some side effects, so make sure you talk it over real well with the Vet.
Thank you for keeping us informed. Now I know how others might have felt while I was sitting here typing my brains out while Bruce was in the hospital.
We're all pulling for ya, but we also know you're too darn stubborn to let anything take you down. But, please, like I said before, don't be doing anything stupid and make anything worse, or take longer to heal.
OH... by the way, NO Toby wasn't swearing (he's too blond to even know how) its just his New York accent getting all screwed up with this new Minnahsootah one.

Hey Frank, It looks like I might have to turn over my back relaxer to ya for rehab down the road. Still have it in the garage and still have your testimonial from that midnight drive from Vegas to the "Brush Rush" a few years back (when we were still youngsters). Get fixed up my friend and get back to flingin' paint.

I can relate to that distorted perception in the mirror Frank.
Although I was far more fortunate in all the wrecks I've been in... one time I was rear ended as I slowed (to about 5mph) for the driver in front of me to turn left off a 2 lane highway... 2 cars back, a rubber necker was probably going 55 while checking out a flipped Trans Am still being attended to by a rescue vehicle. One car back, the driver saw trouble in his mirror & almost got out of the way... driver at fault clipped his bumper with enough force to launch him into a ditch before slamming into us at an unknown, but significant, speed. Not looking in the mirror, the sound of that clip was the only warning we had, but that split second of tensing up possibly helped minimize injuries in my vehicle.
Anyway, I was nervous everytime I braked for anything for the next year.... constantly looking in my mirror... it was like my neck started bracing for injury whenever I even slowed down.
Just read about your car accident and I am sorry to heard about it, I hope everything works out Frank and your dog Scotty. Have to hook up with at a brush bash in the future. Take care.

Frank, I just read about your accident last night. I hope for the best for you buddy. Don't be such a tough ole codger that you don't let them fix you up. That arm is good for lots of things, and painting is just one of them. Keep the spirit. I will be in Vegas next week, so if you are up to a visit, drop me a line. Harry Malicoat MalicoART@aol.com

Heheh, new book; "The Longest Ten Days".....lol
Oh man, what a battle! But finally got a med that doesn't make me sick and actually works in 4-6 hour stints, for the most part, at least I can fall asleep for longer periods...
They're still searching, I keep pointing out my neck and shoulder, we'll connect yet...quit arnica, feel much better (btw-arnica can't be purchased by the layperson unless it's highly diluted-it's the law), damn, forgot name of one that's working and I'm not getting up to go find out, just have to wait till tomorrow or later, lol...internal discomfort is down to just that; hip still hurts; each day more feeling returns to right arm, buzzs like hell, semi-painful; dizzyiness still comes and goes, and ringing in the ears is constant (heheh-once in awhile-it seems to mimic my phone and I'll answer it to find it silent)...
Worries of Scotty are warrantless now, other nite at park, he romped and played w/his buddie (a black scottie) for over two hours, haven't seen him that lively for abit now, point is, in that time and after, he's not limped or favored his left leg/shoulder...me thinks he's going to be fine, his x-rays came back good and he was given a clean bill of health by his vet, so I'm content w/results so far...
Thanks Don and Susan; advice followed, we'll talk again...
Dana; lol, so that's what Toby said!!!
Jack; like minds dude, I was just thinkn' of that article just last nite, wondern' what if...lol
Louie; thanx...but they keep knockn' me down!!! lol
Ya John, Mikeys!!!
See Neil, it was planned ya know, the minute you left, all hell broke loose!!! lol thanx
Ah Harry, sure thing bud, you're always welcome, your lovely lady(wife) going to be with? I'll dispatch a e-pony at you shortly w/#, call, therapy and/or attorney stuff most of mid-day, maybe late lunch, early din-din? We'll work it out, chance Harris from Joisey will still be here, we'll have a hoot, well, you all will, I'm designated crash dummy...lol
Again, thanks to all the kind residents of Letterville, these pages are miniscule compared to emails so far, your compassion and caring touch this ol' painter in ways I only remember as a kid from close family...it's wonderful to be part of this great group, even you odd ones... (now don't go getting all upset OP, I didn't mean you!!! lol)(actually, after a quick thought session, I didn't mean anyone, it was just a good start of a joke-that's all-no underlying meanings-sorry) ???
