Second round of biz cards for customer -

For some reason, I can't locate what I originally charged the guy for his biz cards.

My gut feeling is to double my cost and call it good.

The cards cost me $120 for 2k cards.

Times two would put his cards at 8.3 cents apiece (for full color cards with black printing on back).

Does this sound reasonable?

Thanks.

No. You're paying too much for them -- thats the unreasonable part. Should be paying no more than 50 bucks for them. Should be selling them for $250-$300 NJ Dollars.

Anywhere outside of NJ, deduct about 15-25%. We have our own monetary system here.

What weight/type stock Todd? Glossy, matte etc.? That'll effect your cost. Devil's in the details.

2500 for $72 4/0. If you're buying a lot you should get broker rate. We pay about 50 or so.

Well, I found my old Quickbooks entry - I had the customer's name spelled incorrectly, so that is why I couldn't find it at first...

Anyway, I payed $120 for the 2K reprints....and charged $260. Not bad for a phone call.

Dan - where do you get your cards?

I get mine at 4colorprint.com.....they are the full color silkcards - very nice - and the price also included black on the back in which I had directions printed.

Edit: Oh....the $120 did include shipping.

Jeez...that's really cheap Pat. Thanks.

Can you write on the back or does the "gloss" make that difficult?

I don't feel so bad then.
I just offered 1,000 silk cards to a new client for $75 as part of her package deal.

The gloss is only on the full color side. You can write on the back.

I just ordered 2500 for a customer and paid $67 shipped to the door. That is Color front, b&w back, and sold them for $235 + tax.

Got them at gotprint.com. The thing about them is you can get cards as few as 250. The only thing is the shipping is a little higher than it should be, and if you have multiple orders, they don't give a price break.

I use to use Gotprint.com, but they screwed up colors on one of my front/back full color cards (backgrounds should have been the same, but were WAY different). They tried telling me my colors were "out of gamut". I asked if they even knew what that meant (by the way, all of the support I spoke with was foreign - no disrespect, but their english was very broken). They redid them correctly, but it was too late, they already peed me off by making excuses.

Now I use PartnerPrinting.com. Pretty much the same prices, but a much better online ordering system and a much more reasonable shipping cost. You have to register to get access, but it's well worth it.

Randy, thanks for that link. I was never completely satisfied with gotprint, but I never really could beat the prices.

I lost a lot of respect with them when I ordered 4 sets of 250 cards for 4 different people for one company, and called them to find out about why the shipping would be so high, considering that I was ordering them all at the same time. They told me that it would be 4 different packages, and I was to pay shipping on each set. The only problem is that there were 4 boxes of cards, but they were taped together, and used the same label, so I know the shipping wasn't going to be the $44 or $48 they charged me.

I like the partner printing site for the easy usage. And just in time too, I have to create a logo for a new construction company, and I can get their stuff there.

No problem, Mark. I too was hard pressed to find competing prices with gotprint, even with their outrageous shipping calculations.

PartnerPrinting has been absolutely wonderful to work with. Good people and great prices, including shipping. They even email specials often giving 15% off your next order, etc.

I think you'll enjoy working with them.

Randy, are these the "silk" feel front cards that gotprint offers?
(plain printed black on white backs)
I'm intrigued.

Jill, I'm still not sure what you mean by "silk", however, these cards are printed CMYK digitally in full color and coated with a UV coating for a gloss finish. A very nice quality card.

The feel of the card from both companies were pretty much the same, it's just Partner is much easier to work with.
