An educated guess for the printer would be $3,000 to $4,000 tops assuming it is an Edge LE and not an Edge 2 which would be worth more. Your foils are worth $1,000 to $1,500.
You might want to register at 4EdgeTalk.com if you aren't already. They have free classified ads and specialize in the Edge.

Gene, I did the same thing as you. Upgraded to the Roland Versacamm. And I was in the same boat...how to unload the Gerber Edge1
I let my Edge 1 go for $1000 plus the Signmaker 4b and all the foils, and I had a lot. I have no regrets.
8 year old equipment? Maybe 7 to 10 percent of the original cost. Without the software included, you limit your market. Then for someone to come up with the cash,(who is going finance outdated machinery when new equipment leasing is fast, easy and affordable) will slow your sale.
Old printing equipment, is like old computers. Who really needs a 386 computer?
Why anyone would buy a new EdgeFX hasn't done enough research in where the markets are headed in the next 5 years. Just my opinion
I don't mean to be negative, not every buyer is up to speed with the market and you only need 1 who is ancy to upgrade.
Seriously though, there is always room for the Edge, if you don't have printing capability. It is, and will be a great printer for someone in some shop. If they are looking to get into thermal printing for way below the cost of a new printer, this is a good way to go.
It's not like a 386 comparison at all.

A friend of mine just bought one for $1200. They wanted 1500 but have been trying to sell for sometime. Even though seller bought brand new, he said it paid for itself many times over.

I have to agree. We just turned down an offer on our sign and label business in favor of just downsizing and filling orders from existing clients from home. When we looked at it, our old Edge LE will probably average over $4K a month by itself at better than 85% profit.
