Anyone know of a source of HDU that is cut into smaller UPS shippable sizes? I need to cut some letters out of 1/2 inch HDU so I don't have to have a full 4 x 8 sheet intact. Looking for 2' x 4' pieces so I don't have to pay $90 freight to ship one sheet of HDU.

Dave - I've ordered Precision Board HDU through Laird Plastics and had them drop ship it directly to me from Coastal Enterprises. They cut it into 2' x 4' pieces and ship it by UPS. I still have to buy a 4' x 8' sheet and they charge for cutting it, but it is cheaper than crating and shipping one full sheet.
Where ever you buy HDU can probably set up the same situation.
Kellie at Coastal Enterprises will work with you if you want to use Precision Board, but they cannot sell directly to you...you have to go through a distributor.

Hey Dave, I've mentioned them in the past and I'll mention them again HarborSales.net offers good service and pricing on just about all the products they sell. With most substrates, they'll cut to size for $2.75 and ship it just about anywhere UPS goes. If you were local, they even offer free, next day delivery.
Havin' fun,

Hiya Rusty, It's just money I don't work for free, and as much as I would like my supplier to, I realize that they have to earn a living too. For the $2.75 that I get charged for them to cut it, it's well worth every penny, because it saves me the effort.

Checkers....You might have hit the "nail on the head" when you said "I don't work for free"....you see I have done alot of extra stuff for free on jobs....it's usually labor....but sometimes materials as well....that is if it's not too much....I wouldn't necessarily reccommend this practice for everyone....nevertheless it's my nature....and actually I like the fact about myself that everything is not about the money....actually the $2.75 I would pay and not think twice about it other than it would leave an impression on me about what my supplier is all about....I really don't expect others to have my attitude but I do appreciate whenever I find it among others....Oh by the way....I do inform the customer of my noble generosity and altruistism displayed on their project....and with good results and repeat business might I add....I'm not totally stupid
