Hi Everyone! I have a customer that is looking to have their hockey net top bar covered continuously with a durable fabric and wrap around the top pole as shown in photo.
 -
The material needs to be a colour fabric and then they want the image printed with white. I suggested silk screening. However the customer is looking to see if there is a large format printer that would do this. The entire size of the material would be 27'x16". The printed are would be 10"x16" centre on the material. Does anyone have some suggestions or know of a type of printer that would do this so I can find a source for the customer??

Eradicable awning material for backlit awnings might be an option. You can get some bright background colors with white copy that way.

I've never personally done the eradicating, although we cut quite a bit of mask for one of the local awning companies. They much prefer the Avery paint mask to either GerberMask I or II.

Hi Brenda. Your first idea of silk screen printing the fabric is the best option, since the ink deposit would in all likleyhood outlast any digital print, especially in an outdoor playground type environment. Screen printers would also offer a wider variety of specialized inks from which to choose the best performance option.

Edited to add: If this material will wrap around a hockey goalpost, the material would almost have to be a Kevlar type fabric to resist skate cuts, puck and stick impacts. If that's the situation, digital might require a lot of experimentation to arrive at the correct ink formulation and opacity requirements. Why try to re-invent the wheel ?

Why do I get all those on-line offers to sell me Viagara, when the only thing hardening is my arteries ?

I think I would try David's method, assuming the awning material is durable enough for the application. The color is already on the fabric. The mask goes down and the eradication fluid removes the color in the exposed areas.

My mind wanders. And that's not a good thing, 'cause it's too small to be out there alone.
