Hi, I've been out of the loop for quite a while and was wondering if the problem with the Orocal 651 had gotten resolved? I remember a while back where the app tape wouldn't lift the vinyl off the backing. Thanks Skip Willis

Thanks guys,I remember that I had to get some R tape that had stronger adhesive to pull the vinyl off the backing. Other than that, it was good stuff for the stickers I was makin' I'm going to get back into doing small stuff for the local racers and was wondering about the Orocal. Thanks

I use Oracal all day every day and I love the stuff. We use 641 for short term promotional stuff and I love how it cuts and weeds. Never had a single issue with app tape or getting it off the backing paper. The 751 cast is fabulous too.

I've never had a problem with the 651, 751, or 851. I'm not real keen on the 541, seems too brittle. I love how Oracal white has blue backing paper...makes it nicer to see what you're weeding. Anything is better than Avery! Did I mention that I finally got in my second claim credit? It was the replacement of a SignGold window backed up with black A8. They gave me a whole $14. Love....Jill

We use it Everyday also. But we recently Did have a Slight Problem with some of their 751 Silver Metallic. We had the release problem. Even with Hitac. Not sure yet if it is an isolated incident or cause its a new product. But all in all We do like the oracal.

Oracal is great. I use the 651 and 751 every day. No problems. Sorry OP, you're outnumbered.

Hey OP...You continue to call it "Oracrap" what do you base that on? Hope you can clear that up.
I have tried "shine rite" Not to crazy about it. It is too "crunchy" and feels wierd when I weed it. YOU SAY SHINE-RITE IS "CRUNCHY"??????? 651 is like the plastic clear stuff you take off all the stuff you buy...651 IS MORE LIKE PLASTIC PACKAGE WRAP!!!! SHINE-RITE is so flexible compared to 651..you dont know what youre talkin bout......also only blade i ever broke....WAS ON 651!!!!! i dont have any of it here and never will!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

uk's 651 has changed over to the 751 and still the same price.... was never a fan of the original 651...too brittle for me, the cast is a dream to work with, just had a bad roll of 751 cast last week where most of the backing did stick to the vinyl....the glue abviously wasnt put on correctly to the backing paper.... it will get replaced no doubt.....

Oh, but I do know of which I speak. Never a broken blade...EVER in thousands of yards of Oracal. Perhaps you should consider converting to a Gerber system if your plotter can't handle the superior quality of Oracal. Seems to me that the majority here do not share your view of this product.
My point? Just because I disagree with you dosen't mean I "don't know what I'm talkin about!

In the past three years I have cut (73) 30" x 50 Yard rolls of Oracal 651 vinyl (mostly race track signs ranging from 4'x8' to 4' x 24'). In 5 years, have never had a single failure! Needless to say, I use it every day!

I'm trying to find a sign with shrinkage or fading...SOMETHING to indicate that the 651 Oracal is deteriorating, but haven't seen one yet...been using Oracal since day 1 at my shop, and it's well over 5 years now. I could even say that it's not too bad to remove either, after 5 years or more in the Fla. sun.
What I'm worried about though, is whether or not I need to get rid of the vinyl on rolls that I haven't used in 5-6 years. The adhesive still feels sticky, and it feels the same as a new roll, but would it be still last as long?. I'm wondering if the 5 year life starts when it gets stuck to something, or what exactly the shelf-life of this stuff is.
Before I opened my shop, I worked for another shop in town that used Sparcal and Gerber, and when I first started trying the Oracal, I thought that it felt thick and brittle in comparison, as well as having a much stronger odor. So I had my doubts, for sure, about durability, but I had decided earlier on that I was only using one brand in my shop, and I was committed to following through with the oracal. I'm glad I did.
The only thing I don't like is the name. Oracal...sounds like an oral hygiene product, or a porn site. I'd like to hear why they chose that name for their product.
