Just to clarify what Jon said. Buy the upgrade, but buy it from a store rather than an online download. The ones in the stores, upgrade or "full" (both are identical), come with manuals etc. the downloaded programs don't.

I would bet Corel 7 and up can be run on XP so you should be able to get it to work but if you are running a service pack 2 version of XP then maybe it wont work. Like people have said put your money to a upgrade of X3 with the disks and manuals some people even got a graphics tablet with their purchases have a look around maybe that deal is still out their. As for version 8 I never liked it, odd numbers rule with Corel software.hahaha

Corel workspace has always had a few interesting aspects
Over time, and usually triggered by a windows update or patch, Corel will need to be started, as Mike said, by holding F8 down when you open the program
This just resets the general workspace to factory defaults, or 'out of box' state
I routinely create a named workspace, with any new version of Corel, first thing
It helps me to set up the look and feel of what I want my screen and program to be, before I start working with the newest version
Then if Corel starts to behave strangely... or the screen appearance changes in anyway, I can reset to factory defaults (F8) and know that my named workspace is still there, for me to select after the program reboots clean
While workspace files can be imported & exported, x3 will have a cow if you tell it to select an older version workspace as default when you first install x3
All you have to do is allow x3 to install it'self as it wants by default, then when you open it for the first time go and install your workspace... or create a new named one... too easy
Corel's workspace tools are one of the things I like best about using the program actually
You can turn off all the stuff that isn't necessary for sign making, plus create menu's, toolbars and icons that we do use and have them in prominence to speed up the process of your work
cheers gail
