Came in this morning and had 164 junk e-mails and not one was keepable. Took me 10 minutes to go through them. Granted it was through the weekend and I haven't been here since Friday. But still I'm averaging probably 60 per day.
Let's say with the 4 of us we are averaging 60 a day each, times 5 minutes of time to go through and delete them, it is costing me 20 minutes of downtime per day times 5 days = 1 hr and 40 minutes of labor. I can pinstripe a big rig in that amount of time and make a couple hundred bucks.
Who out there knows of software to help me cut down of this s%$^! I'm madder than an old wet hen!

Bill, You can set up in Outlook Express to send those to a folder that you also set up. You would set it up in MESSAGE/CREATE RULE FROM MESSAGE. That can get rid of a lot.
I run Kaspersky antivirus and that checks it and sends it to the DELETE folder. Before I delete, I go in and skim to see if I missed anything.

dave @ monumental designs .com (my account)was getting easily as many as you.
Steve started using Outlook Express to capture our mail (instead of using Nero mail) and set a filter somewhere to block the spam or anything that looked like spam.
Well, that stopped some of the other mail too. I also noticed that when I send e-mails, sometimes I have to verifiy that I'm a real person and not a spaming machine.
Steve did somethin else (somewhere in Outlook) and now only a few stock quote spam gets through, and I seem to be gettin most of our dealer sign shop mail.

A lot of your spam/junk comes from cookies being sent to your computer from average surfing the net. Try Secure Internet Explorer. I have been using it for years, with pop ups blocked, I get about 3 a day- touch wood. You also should go into your windows files- cookies-temp cookies and delete them. They are the rotten beggars that are spamming you.

Deri is right: Block those pointless cookies and pop-ups. You have to enable them for some legit sites -- this one needs cookies, for instance -- but it's either that, or keep griping about spam.
And one more time: Subscribe to spamcop.net, and start reporting every single one of those t**ds as they arrive. Pardon the repitition, but I do all this, and very, very seldom get spam. Most recent report from my ISP was 2 spams MailBlocked in 14 days. One got thru, and it went to SpamCop. At the beginning, years ago, it was a lot of work. But no more.

Bill, Jane, is it spam coming through your diazsignart domain?
If so, check with your web host or log into your hosting control panel if you have one available and check the spam settings on the server. Some hosts will have filters at the server level that will take care of at least 95% of the spam. I have my filters at Maximum and there's still a few that make it through, but nowhere near the 200 per day I used to get. The filters are pretty reliable at only attacking spam and not regular emails, although a few do get eaten up here and there.

You're singing my song Bill! Very frustrating to get mail from Humidity P Trailer. I think the names are randomly drawn from some dictionary program. Plus, many are duplicates....sometimes 10-12 of the same message.
Part of the trouble with Laura's solution is that there is no text to create rule from because they have converted the text to JPEGS, thus making the text indetectable by the internal "rule" filters. Just proves how devious they can be.

I have one addy for my official stuff, one for "my stuff" and one that I give for other stuff in case I get put on a sucker list. It's easy to change email addys for the last one, not so easy for the others. In fact, I've had my signpimp50 addy for 6 years and I almost never get any spam, less than 5 a month.

I switched my website hosting to bluehost and have gotten pretty good at adjusting the spam filters they have. I'm down to 1-2 spams going into my mail account. They use spamassassin.

Have Joe get ahold of Adam. He can help get sapm blockers installed on the server side to help block 95% of that stuff silently. That is if you have a dedicated or virtual server set up for your web clients.
