The technician from my Rolands distributor just left after putting a new pump in my VersaCamm 540. He told me that this pump that he put in is a newer style pump then what orginially came with these machines.
It seems that the gear that drives it is much bigger and heavier duty. He also told me that owners that have had their warranty expire can get one for free.

Yes, all versacamm machines need to have the pumps replaced. My distributor tech is actually here right now...although for an unrelated issue. He was here two weeks ago replacing the pump. Roland notified ALL DISTRIBUTORS of this issue. It appears that switching over to the max inks is the cause of the problem. The max inks are made of different agents that eventually cause the old pumps to explode. I had a new pump replaced in June, before the known reason for the pump explotion. Roland is paying for the pump and time to change it this time. However, travel time is up to the owner of the machines. If your distributor is telling you different...they are not being truthful! If the pump is not replaced...it will go in time. Best to jump on board now and force your distributor to replace before you run into problems. Don't let your distributor tell you different....Roland is paying for parts and labour without question!
