Doing some post & panel signs that will have (real)copper accents on the finneals. Was looking for suggestions for some copper paint that I could trim the panels with.

Sophisticated Finishes has a line of copper paint that has real copper in it. There are some other manufacturers that have similar products. They have to be clear coated, otherwise they will develop a patina. The manufacturers have a clear coat in their line designed for that purpose.
We have used them on a couple of jobs and they are very realistic.

These are waterborne paints.
Also, Ronan has its Aqua-Leaf line of metallic water based paints, which includes a copper.

I have heard good things about Ronan's Aqualeaf, but have never used it. Art Essentials of NY sells Copper Leaf, but I am sure it would tarnish even with a clear coat. One Shot has a great copper color but also will tarnish and turn black.

I have had lots of luck with the Ronan Aqua Cote. Comes in a brilliant copper and is very easy to work with. Use a 1" foam brush. Love....Jill

Hiya Eric, I've heard a lot of good about the Ronan aqua-leaf paints, but I too haven't tried it yet either. Here's the link... http://www.ronanpaints.com/faux.htm I have some rattle-can rustoleum that looks pretty good. I used it several years ago on my mailbox when I refinished it. The copper was a base coat under some rattle-can durnotic to match the faux finish of another fixture. Although it is outside and hasn't shown any signs of fading or failure, it is sheltered fairly well under my porch overhang. Unfortunately, no matter what you use, I wouln't expect to get more than a few years out of it before you need to recoat it, or it will start to fail.

Matthews acrylic poly has a great copper , we've used it with clear coat and it's over 10 years and still looks good. But for a small job I'd go with Checkers suggestion and us Rusto or Krylon and clear it h
