Kimmy, I have not been, but many friends go and a few are some of the leaders. Have you seen the documentary about it? I think Scooter might be the only one from this site that attends.

Yes Rick we saw the documentary, Joey, we cant find any history past 1992 , its going on this week and attendance is up over 35,000 and still"leave no trace" when its over www.burningman.com the big thing to me is that its in the middle of the desert in August, and you need to be self sufficent for a week.

I meant California because thats where I probably first heard of it, remember there wasn't any Internet back then.
If anything is going on differently when you're in California, ya hear of it. BTW I was living in Vegas between 86 and 89 only spent a year in socal and before that in southern florida.
Oh well, I can't be expected to remember everything in this friggin heat

I watched the video last night on cable. Amazing. Just amazing. The art installations are incredible. The ideas and creativity are truly inspiring.
Both Jody and I felt it was very much like a Walldog meet - lots of work - common goal - in the name of art - same energy - all friends.
The only thing missing at a Walldog meet is the hedonism found at Burning Man. Kinda rave-like at times.
I'd do it in a minute with Sawatzk'eh. Whattaya say Grampa Dan? Let's head to the desert!!! We'll do an art-car!!!

It was introspective in the beginning but.... now it's more like a Hollywood scene. I would never go to be with that batch of fools who don't have a lick of cool about them.

If the night of the burn was a calm night... I would do the playa but he other times.... eating sand (dirt) and great art just don't mix well for me. I have lived in the high desert in Texas. Once! Try lettering a window at 2:00 in the afternoon. You can hear the dirt scratchin' the glass with every brush stroke. Wind: 35-45 mph with gusts. I just gotta have the right tunes,a soft leg to lay on, a COLD beer, some BC ...and good night Irene.

The conditions do seem a bit extreme, but if 35,000 wannabe's can do it so can I. plus I am all about hedonism and art.

If ever you attend one, your life will never seem the same afterwards........
Things haven't lined up right for the last 8 yrs. since I attended for me to do another, which I will do in a heartbeat as soon as all my ducks are in a row and I can well afford the time and money to go again,I'll never forget it and if the "extreme" bothers you, stay home!!! It isn't for "sissies/city folks", it's harsh reality and damn worth the time to get an insight of yourself you can't get any other way..... If some wish to somewhat plan for next years event, pencil me in........

Its a bit 'out there' for my taste in fun or art... I'm actually pretty conservative in my thinking.
