Some of you might remember my recent question in this post.
I did buy the EZ Sculpt. It was about $142 for a two-gallon two-part kit. It's very easy to mix and work with.
After about 4 hours of playing yesterday, this is what I came up with:
Each 23"x40" sign will have a rose spray up the one side, but I modelled them both on one sign. It is sitting, drying, on my kitchen table. We have had very damp weather and the EZ Sculpt is still not 100% hardened after 24 hours, but we'll see.
I guess all those years of playing with Play-Doh paid off! love....Jill

You ain't gonna believe this but I was going to ask you today how that was coming; I was thinking about it on my way to work this morning. I love it when a plan comes together! Looks like one for the portfolio for sure!!

Gonna stick 'em on with Gorilla Glue and maybe a screw or two thru the back of the sign. The guy at the site http://www.polygem.com/zoo/ezsculpt.php sez that you can sand it, paint it, etc. and it does last outside. I hope he's right! He also sent me some thickening powder to give it more body, which I used on the thinner parts. Right now I have one side flipped over to dry and it is surprisingly stable. Gonna paint em with 1-Shot. love....Jill

Jill, I saw Steven hit this stuff with absolutely no effect. It's basically pure epoxy so don't worry about it going outside. I got some of this stuff and a bunch of casting stuff too. I don't think the old timers were much into casting and sculpting epoxy resins so we're breaking new grounds (in the last 20 years or so) with all of this. I had an invite to Mike Jackson's "Casting Call" back in the 80's but couldn't go. I even started on a project for it. That would have really pushed me in the right direction.

WOW Jilly That is Fantastic, Amazing, Beautiful.. Make a Mold of that it will way speed up the process. Call me if you like and I would be more then happy to walk you through the process. That would be a very simple open face mold. And with some Fillers it would be much stronger.

Dang Girl, that's great! EZ Sculpt, huh? Oh goody, something new to try! Can't wait to see the paint. (if it were me, I'd have a couple of roses to practice on... but that's just me)

Ian, it's not too sticky! Didn't dry out my hands, either. Only had to wash my hands when the doorbell or phone rang. Which of course it did more often than usual that day. Sheila, I used about a quart of each part. I wanted to be sure to have enough tho, so I bought the 2-part gallon kit. I have em stored upside-down in the garage now, Lord only knows how long it'll keep! I'm sure I'll try it again on something. It's still not 100% dry, tho I did turn both pieces over and have had fans blowing on them for 2 days. The humidity is so high here! I think tomorrow will be the painting day and Friday the gluing day. Mark, it was my first time for both. But like I said, I always loved Play-Doh. One you mix the two golfball-sized parts together, it is very similar to that. Having had 3 kids, well, I can make just about anything out of Play-Doh.
Ernest...I'll be careful with the GG. I always use it sparingly. And it was more fun to make 2 separate pieces than to make one and cast it! With the drying time, I would only have been able to make a mold today. There are 2 signs total. love....Jill

Hi Jill, That's amazing stuff and I think you have motivated many of us to pick up some and try it!
I see many 3Dimensional projects here and most are carving things out of HDU signfoam. This looks like you can have more freedom while sculpting and making changes without losing any material. More efficent way with the same results. Awsome job and great solution. We learn so much here. Thanks for sharing.
Sign-cerely, Steve
