The sponsor letters have gone out and we're hoping for a good response so we can keep the costs down and have a door prze of some sort for all attendees. A big THANKS to Carter Barnes over at Aluma Panel in Cumming, GA for becoming our first $1000 sponsor. Many of you met Carter at last year's Dixie Meet in Greenville SC or at Jimmy Chatham's meet a few years ago. He's a great guy - buy some stuff from him ......
We're also working on a pre-cut Dixie Letterheads panel design that you can sandblast in HDU, even donning the hood and giving the blaster a go if you like. (it's fun the FIRST time)
Although the theme and name is "Sign Circus", we don't want anybody thinking it will be anything other than what the Dixie Meets are known for: FUN, FOOD, and FELLOWSHIP. The theme is more to inspire your project idea, if you choose to work on something during the meet. We promise there won't be any clowns distracting you at the easels (other than the usual assortment you'd expect to see)
We'll have some surprises, but we're mostly going to keep the focus on what Letterheads is all about - sharing. If you haven't been to a meet yet, we hope this will be a good opportunity for you to experience the best of Letterheads in a laid-back environment. The venue is a large, well-stocked sign shop, so we'll be able to paint, carve, gild, blast, and BS into the wee hours - good news for people like me who don't get cranking 'til midnight.
Several people have called and offered to present seminars and demos, so as in years past, we will have a sign-up schedule board indicating when and where they'll be. We prefer to keep it loose and not list a formal schedule in advance. I will say, however, that the talent will be top-notch and well worth your efforts to attend.
Some people have asked about bringing their children. My take is that some kids will get a lot from this, and some won't. I'll leave it up to the parents to decide which is which, but we'd prefer that you bring the first group and leave the second at home. We'll have a kids' tent and a few activities, but the venue is in an industrial park, so plan accordingly. Stone Mountain, the new Georgia Aquarium, and Lake Lanier are within a 30 minute drive.
I've been assured by hosts of other meets that we won't have a clue how many are coming until they get here. With that in mind, here's some incentives to pre-register: $25 now or $40 at the door, no Guarantee of a shirt if you pay at the door, and the first 50 registrants will be entered into a special prize drawing. OK, no excuses - sign up now.

My twin grandsons are having surgery on Friday. Minor, but still surgery. I will be in Louisville with them on Friday. If all goes well(I think it will) then Dora and I will drive from Louisville on Saturday.
Hope to see you there.

Hey Y'all, Noella and I are planning a fall vacation around this meet. We've been told Georgia offers the best in southern hospitality and we can't wait to sample some for ourselves!

Checking flights as we speak, er type. I have 2 obstacles to going to this meet & I solved one yesterday when I talked to the kennel about my mutt's medicine schedule. Second is if I can get a flight out late enough on the 12th to take care of a standing annual committment I have that day.

I have never been to a meet so I need to know everything. What to bring, motels need by, and I would love someont to either ride with me or I pick them up on the way. I am coming to learn all I can but I will admit I don't have much to offer in the way of knowledge. But I plan on having a great time and meeting some of the people that have been so nice to me the last 5 years. My check is going out in the AM.

Bill you're looking at mid 50's to mid 70's temp wise. I know there are places reasonably closeby to camp. Cis, come on down and bring your appetite for knowledge and your thirst for fun; it's all good. Patrick you *know* Auburn is gonna win. Donald I'll do my best to have your window pane panel done by the meet. Nancy, I hope you're not disappointed in our hospitality. I know this might seem crazy but I enjoy the company of my northern neighbors more than the ones closer by; at least they come see me once in awhile. Rapid it'll be good to get to meet you at last; sorry we couldn't have done it sooner. Kissy, I just heard that the airlines are dropping their rates so go ahead and book that flight. Sonny has asked me to do a trick shooting and pistol cleaning demo for the meet. You Canadians can just google the word "pistol" if you aren't familiar with that word. Is it October yet? Is it October yet? Is it October yet? Is it October yet? Is it October yet?

I am lookin' forward to my first meet, too! Can't wait to meet all of you, learn lots of new things and, hopefully, bring something to share with you. While I have several years in the biz, it is mostly with windows...so I don't know how much that will help any of you? Sonny, let me know what I can do to help!

Hey Bill, I'm pretty poor and probably can't afford a motel by myself... camping sounds like a good idea. I'll bring my tent too. I'm too young to rent a car also, so I guess I'll bring my skateboard and a rope and let the locals pull me around.

Darn it! That reminds me...I finished Donald's windowpane in Scotland! I thought I mailed it....but it was up in my garage under my paperback Atkinson. Gonna have to send it down to him!
Heads-Up folks... I have been to meets everywhere, across the pond and even up in Canada. Even hosted a few. A Dixie meet is like no other, and well worth the trip. I dunno if I'll make it or not tho. love....Jill

I think this will be the first meet for quite a few people - we'll tell you about the initiation rites later. All I can say now is that it involves Mayor Steve, Old Paint and Si Allen in red thong bikinis.
Bill, there's camping at Lake Lanier about 15 minutes away, or you can pitch a tent in the vacant lot next door (if it's still vacant in Oct) Kelsey, you can use my bicycle to get around.
Just got a slew of registration checks in the mail, one of which was a very cool flame-job envelope from Jake Snow. Keep 'em coming, folks......

Wow - a "Dixie International" !!! Manfred and Marcus are ultra-talented signmakers from a beautiful valley in Germany. They were seen recently with Mikey Meyer in Signs of the Times Magazine disguised as "locals" in Scotland. Get them to tell you how German carpenters order a beer.
It keeps gettin' better.........

Hey Sonny, it would be pretty cool if you went back up there to the very first post you made on this thread and add the regular mailing address for the pre-registration sweet-darlin'-doo-dah . . .
In case you do . . . I will likely mail that $25 right on to you 'cause I ain't 100% sure I have your address, but I prolly do . . . somewhere, but some others may not . . .

Sheeler, check my second post and the info is there. I told the band I had a sweet southern songstress I'm gonna push up on the stage, so bring your concert clothes. After-party at the Waffle House.
Craig, maybe we can find you a lift - I tried calling the number you listed but it's been disconnected.
Welcome aboard John. I just heard from Sue Banasky, so the Northwest will be well-represented. Grab Donna and Dan on your way.
From the Northeast, we can expect to see our old pal, Rapid Ray, back in his former haunt, as well as the appropriately named Peach's, Bob and Marcia- cuz we need some people with funny accents. Cruising down in a big RV will be Karen and Bob Souza.
Also heading South will be our pal Mike Barnes who's bringing Jake Snow and hopefully, John Deaton (I told 'em to just throw a gunnysack over his head and drag him down here)
Nancy Beaudette and Noella Cotnam said they wanted to see a Georgia Autumn and old Savannah. Also from Canada, we have Tramp Warner and Russ Kelley - the paint will fly.
Locally, we're expecting our BB pals Judy, Ricky, Stefanie, Nancie, and Dusty - there's a party in itself.
We're going to try a new format seminar - a Photoshop Roundtable Session - with David Butler, Kelsey Dum, and other PS users sharing a few tricks. I'm sure we can all pick up something new. If you have any techniques or timesavers to share, burn a CD and we'll have a computer and projector set up - "Pass the mouse, please...."
I met with the City of Suwanee development directors yesterday and we're planning an 8' x 16' mural. (painted on Alumalite inside the venue) I'll have the basic design finished this weekend, but if anyone wants to take the ball and run with it, here's your chance. Some pictorial experience would be necessary, but you'll have plenty of top-notch help.
It just keeps gettin better.......
