Whenever I'm idle for a while I get the urge to create something new, to go where I've never gone before. It happens often, and is often fueled by my other passion, browsing though my many art and sign books.
Ideas are triggered and simply can't be put to rest until they are done. Sometimes working the ideas out on paper as sketches will do. I know the idea is then safe for future referecne when needed.
But as those who have been to my shop/studio I often go much further than that. I HAVE TO BUILD IT. Even though I have no customer in sight to sell it to at the present time the idea simply has to take a tangable form. My studio is FILLED with such projects.
We call it eye candy and here it is WALL to WALL.
Today is such a day. I have an idea in my head which absolutely must get built. I simply have to. Its going to be the coolest piece ever... and it has been rattling there in my subconcious for months wating to take form...
But simply building it won't do for I have paying work which must first be done. Thank goodness for the MultiCam for it lets me multitask better than ever before.
I put a little time preparing files and setting it in motion. Another project gets some pieces glued on and while that is all clamped up I can sneak away some time for my latest inspiration.
I will run to town to get some other bits, do my chores, and all the while sneak bits of time to add to my project.
The file is almost done and when it is I will set the MultiCam in motion once again on it while I get back to my other paying projects. What comes off the machine is but the start of what is to come...
Today is a GOOD day!

I know how you feel Dan. I've got, let me see, 9 sketchbooks stuffed under my desk at the moment that are all full of things that I HAD to commit to atleast paper. I get in trouble for it occasionaly, but sometimes I get ideas that I don't want to lose.
If only I had my own shop, there is SO MUCH stuff that I would like to build ....

Dan, have you ever had an MRI done of your brain? What the heck goes on inside there anyway? Often I think how interesting it would be to shrink to nano size and take a ride in there for a day... ...With the ensuing sensory overload, I'm pretty sure it would void my life insurance policy, expire my driver's licence and max. out my visa... just from approaching the apparent chaos. Somehow, just outside that cerebral cacophony appears this gentle sensitive soul... . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
