Jason, I can not believe you have to bring up such a sore subject, massachusetts is the home of Fluff and is in a big dispute about it in the state house, leave it to you to make light of a sticky subject.... fluff debate

If you think the strawberry jelly is bad, try buying a lemon merrangue pie...or anything edible that supposedly has lemon in it. If you read the content part of the label, it will usually say that it has artificial flavour and colour.
By contrast, a can of Pledge, or a container of Sunlight detergent claims to have "Real Lemon".

Captain Ken, my wife makes home-made strawberry jam, and after you eat it, you no longer can stomach the gooey globby bread spread from the grocery store. I'd send you a jar of it but then you'd be wanting it all the time....

I opened the jar this morning and now it has a thin 'skin' formed over the top, is this normal? Anybody ever use it on an english muffin or a bagel?

My wife has been making strawberry jelly for years. Once out at a restuarant I tried the commercial stuff. Yuck.
We have a small plum tree next to the kitchen. One day she said I should try making jelly from the plums. Man... best darn jelly I've ever had. It's my favorite now. I'm hoping I can transplant the tree to the shop yard before I put my house up for sale.

Switch to the jam...it's much better. The jelly never spreads as well as the jam. My mom used to make strawberry jam all the time...I miss it. I am a huge fan of the PBJ.
Try toasting the bread, add a little butter, then your peanut butter and jam... wait, better make two!

Ken, you have to switch to PRESERVES they don't seem to skin over quite so fast..I just got back from the grocery store and I see that the now have Jelly, Jam & Preserves in a squeeze bottle with the nozzle Top that sits on the bottom so that it doesn't skin over.

Jason, again you take the opprotunity to belittle my situation, preserves, DO NOT come in squeeze bottles and I can not find strawberry JAM or Jelly with the ez pour lid on the bottom.
Joey, thanks for nothing! I tried your Paint Sav trick and I got sick as a dog!!! I will be thinking of you while I am cleaning strawberry jam off my bathroom floor!
The people on this board obviously do not care about me or my sandwich spreadables, or are not knowlegeable enough to be giving advice on this matter.... I have had enough, I am taking my peanut butter, my fluff AND my jelly, and going home!!!
and to all the people who have sent me private messages and emails on this matter, I don't appreciate you getting a laugh at my expense, this is a serious problem and I have been in contact with a Smuckers rep. who has assured me that I am not the only one having this problem, and they have their R&D dept. working on a new formula the covers better.

Capt; you're spreading it pretty thick here, maybe knowing difference between jam and preserves would go a long ways in fixing your sticky situation...and then following Joey's advice would have worked as one will work with one but not another.....it takes a knowledge of the craft and even angle knife is held is crucial in some degree or another, but if you must vacate because of all the jams you get into, so be it, but could you leave the crunchy as it's the only jar on the block that hasn't been jellied up? Say hi to Cartman on way home...and don't lick the silver toast, it comes from Sodus...any diviation from this course of action will result in us sending that new kid to make sure...he does look pretty mean and all...guess in future, we'll have to do better job of guarding borders...

I alsways teh skip the stuff with preservatives and do a PBB. That's PB and banana! And if you have left over banana, which I usually do- it's hard to put a whole banana on one sandwich, just offer it to your friend- "here ya go, for that monkey" "what monkey?" "the one on your back" "I have one?" "Yes, and it's fairly large - looks hungry" "oh?" "UmHm....hey! careful with that peeling"

Banana's??? I would expect someone from the land of Elvis would know if your gonna do bananas you gotta put chocolate on it and grill it, just like the king would do.... blackberry jam??? I have had it!!!!! I will not put myself in a situation where I can be blatantly disrespected like this anymore! I posted a serious question about jelly, strawberry in particular, and I get fluff experts and jam spreaders chimming in telling ME what goes best with MY peanut butter. The nerve of some people!!!! I don't have to take it anymore, you can all take your jelly and jam it! I am out of here!!! oh and btw Rick is there any other bread besides white bread for a pb&j?
c'mon.....amateurs....all of ya! good bye and good riddins!

Dude you been had ... I don't know who sold it to you but in your picture ... that aint white bread.
Other than that you may have a cross contamination thing going on. I always apply a barrier slice between the jelly and pb slices... seems to help.
Grainy bread, seedy jelly and crunchy pb ... you just have too many textures going on at once ... getting some "real" white bread may help. If not you may have to try a different brand all together. Smucker?, I don't even know her.

I just got off the phone with the local rep from Smuckers, they were no help...." we are not responsible for loss of peanut butter or damage to any type of bread, furthermore application of Smuckers brand jam's without proper training is not recommended" frustrated I went to the grocery store where I spoke to the manager who was very helpful and actually walked me through the whole job start to finish, my biggest mistake was storing the preserves in the freezer, apperently storing it in the fridge instead greatly improves the flow and spreadabilty of the jam. Fluff should be stored at room temp. and peanut butter is fine in the fridge or at room temp. I hope this helps all of you in your atempts to make pb&j on the future, I appologize to anyone I offended, jamspredders, jellyrollers and marmaladeheads.
