I have a customer who has these sandblasted slate signs for an apartment complex well they keep getting broken and I was trying to find a composite slate black or Dark green that would look the same but not break the same.
I have seen them somewhere I just dont know where.
Any help much appreciated.
Thanks Dave

I'm not sure the meaning of "slate" in your description.
Since slate is natural, & composit is not... does the composit material need to simulate the natural irregularities of the slate surface? Or can it just be like solid-surface counter top composits like Avonite, Corian or Gibralter? That stuff comes in 1/2" thick sheets with various natural rocky or marble textures & it polishes up real nice. I've used a bunch of Black Avonite..

Although slate can be brittle, I'm trying to picture how they're being used that will cause them to break. Perhaps a different installation method can be suggested? The size of composite slate seems to be limited. Besides what's available here... http://www.davinciroofscapes.com/body/slate_features.htm another thing that comes to mind is the composite countertop materials corian or similar.

I had checked into the roofing tiles and the edges aren't square enough for what I am going for I will check on the counter top material, now that you mention it I think I have seen some samples of that would be real close to what I need.
They mount these single tiles of slate directly to a 4x4 post, I tried suggesting adding a backing but the complex wants uniformity over durability. Go Figure
Thanks again Dave
