I wanted to mention an exciting new software application that is being offered as a free download. It is called Vector Art 3D Machinist, and has been developed by my company for machining our new 3D art models that are now available for sale. Just go to www.vectorart.com and click on the 3D option, and then the 3D Machinist option. There are also two free 3D models for download if you might like to try these new products on your CNC machine. The 3D Machinist software is very user friendly and as easy to use as a print driver. The two videos on that page tell the whole story. Give the video 30 to 40 seconds to load the frst time you look at them as they are 6meg files.
It is our wish to democratize the world of 3D CNC and to take the mystery out of it for all those folks out there who own a CNC machine that is completly capable of full 3D movement and can produce valuable carved signage. We eventually will offer 1000s of high quality models for routing and engraving. The 3D Machinist software includes post processors for virtually all routers, except Gerber.

Sweet Stuff Andrew. If it's anything near the quality of your vector collections, I'm sure it would be great! One question though, did someone actually request the 3D "alien notice" art of was that just for fun

The "alien notice" is for fun, but as we have learned in nearly 20 years of putting together the 2D Vector Art collections, we cannot offer too many choices and the price cannot be too low.
When we looked at what we had with the 3D Machinist program, we realized that a comparable machining program would cost a few thousand dollars. We also realized that we wanted to focus entirely on art development because that is what we do best, and we did want to get involved with the marketing a new machining program. So, we made a deal with the developers of the software which allowed us to offer 3D machinist at the ideal price of a big, fat zero. It is free, it is very powerful and it has an elegant user interface. 3D Machinist totally de-mystifies full 3D carving. Of course, all of this leads to our marketing plan which is to make money on our rapidly growing 3D collections. We are procuring this artwork in many ways from many places, including from talented artists and carvers...check out some of the wildlife panels.
