I love CorelDraw and have been using it since version 5. I guess I'm an odd user though.. (I've had 7, 9, 11, and now X3) I would like to know what keystrokes, button customizations, and shortcuts everyone uses... I am always open to making things even easier.
A few of things I do always do to my workspace.
1. I add "To Top" and "To Bottom" buttons to the main tool bar so they are always visible.
2. I also add a "Quick Weld" button to the main tool bar so it is always visible and also assign it to the "W" key... handy for welding script fonts etc. I also add a "Group" and "Ungroup" button to the main bar.
3. I put the "Align and Distribute" dialog box on the A key, making it easy to get to the "Distribute" command... (default is the Spiral tool, but who uses that?)
4. I always have the "Treat All Objects As Filled" turned off and also the "Replace Text while Typing"
I'll have to think of some of the other custom settings but that's a start...
I'd like to know what you think about some of the add-on packages also...
If this has been discussed a hundred times, just ignore this thread...

I have the following shortcut keys set up – some are Corel standards and some I have added. These are functions that I use frequently and all are accessible from my left hand since I use a graphics tablet and don’t like to put down the pen any more than necessary.
Cntrl-B - Bezier Tool D - Dimension Tool Cntrl-E - Eyedropper Tool F - Recent Files Macro Q / F10 - Shape Tool V - Text Tool W - Weed Border Macro Cntrl-space / X - Pick Tool
The Recent Files Macro is written by a VBA expert named Os and is available here: http://recent.tekcities.com/ There are some other macros here that I use also. Os is a real wizard!
The Weed Border Macro is another one of Os’s macros and is available on the Corel News Group – search for Weed box macro
Great post – I’ll be following this one closely to learn from you and others.

Can someone please help me to fix the text size in CorelDraw X3? It always stays at some very tiny point size and can be frustrating when laying out text. Thank you.

Glenn, click on your Create Text Tool (A) over in the tool bar... then BEFORE you click in the workspace to start creating text, change the Text Size up in the property bar. It will pop a window saying you are changing the default text size... Make sure the Artistic and Paragraph boxes are both clicked if you are needing both modes to default to a larger text...
Another thing that's cool on the later versions of CorelDraw... if I'm working on a large sign and need to start a new line of text, I'll type one letter, then grab the resize handle drag it out a lot larger. That way I don't type a whole line of miniscule letters and have to correct all my typos....
Hope some of that made sense.
