We are proudly hosting a little Letterhead picnic here at Giggle Ranch on Saturday, July 29. We'll start in the shop with lots of laughs, perhaps paint some panels, route some cool stuff, and other stuff that Letterheads do. You can count on a few surprises too as this is the place where imagination lives in 3D!
In the late afternoon we'll head up to the lake for the first ever Letterhead World Cup Adventure Golf Challenge at Giggle Ridge. I'm sure the competition will be fierce!
Then it will be back to the ranch for a barbeque, more sign/shop type stuff and perhaps some guitar pickin along with lots of good visiting.
Our guests of honor will be the Shortreed family who are visiting all the way from Ontario - practically from the other side of the country.
Its going to be a laid back affair, not formal at all. Letterheads close and far are more than welcome.

Now that sounds like a fun time! Doubt if I can fit any more time in unless you've built a human cloning machine...hey maybe that explains why your so darn productive...hmmm. Either way I won't phone you for directions on how to get to your place.

After a nights sleep... or rather a night of tossing and turning and thinking of things we are going to do for this little event we have come up with a few more ideas.
This is only a one day event but it won't be short on fun!
Things will start mid-morning... coffee break is the first thing on the adjenda at 10:00 am sharp. Paint and visit until noon... then break for lunch here at the ranch.
After lunch we'll do more painting, carving and visiting until about 4:00... then up to Giggle Ridge for a round of golf... Prizes to be awarded!
Then back to the ranch for a hamburger bar-b-que and more letterhead stuff!
This will be a family event!

I'm ready to head out right now Dan! It's been 3 years since we last visited the area. You were away, but we spent a great day with Donna and Cody.
There's an extra special element to this day. Our Daughter Heather will be attending her first meet. She has no idea what her Old Man does for a living. I better get out the brushes and start practising.

For those who want to come from far away I'll work on getting information regarding places to stay relatively close. It is real pretty country in these parts with some great things to see and do.
If you are flying here you will probably go to Vancouver, about 1 1/2 hours away. Give me a shout if you aren't renting a car.
Here's the web page for our local tourism board... http://www.tourismchilliwack.com/ You can follow the links to the hotels and other accomodation. I recommend the Comfort Inn . The manager, Len Wiens, is a good friend and I'll see what he can do for rates.
If you need place to stay don't delay making your reservation as it is prime tourist season that weekend. Its a provincial holiday weekend.

The interest for the meet is AWESOME... LOTS of new folks are coming.
The Gidney Sign Company crew and families of Chilliwack are coming... they number 10!
Warren Schoff of Imagination Station, High River Alberta called this morning reserving space for 3
We have a number of folks from Washington state expressing interest.... and maybe some folks from Manitoba too.
Plans are still being made... we've decided on a cost of $20.00 per person to help cover the cost of 2 meals and other things happening at the meet.
By the looks of it this won't be a mini meet much longer...
LOTS of fun things planned! Phoebe & I are getting REALLY REALLY excited!

You will need photo ID - like a driver's licence. You will also need a birth certificate or a passport. Its the same both ways through the border.

May I ask a favor? Since we are flying, I won't be able to bring my guitars. Anyone have an extra? A Strat? Marshall stack? Bring your stuff and voices. I wanna boogie with you guys and gals.

Sophie and I had already been talking of a trip to the Pacific Northwest sometime this summer before she has to go back to work. If we can work out the schedule, then Chilliwack would become one of those tax deductible "research" ventures.

From Mexico, it's about two grand. As far as Canada is concerned, the biggest problem has been getting Letterheads into the country, not out of it. Just make sure you don't have any brushes with pistol grips, especially if they have notches on them.

Can't make the Ontario party, but it sounds like fun
Being from Ontario, I thought you probably have some experience making signs for the snowy mountain scene, yes? I'm considering using one-shot on MDO - do you see any problems with this? How about vinyl? High performance?
All input welcome, Victoria

Actually I'm in beautiful British Columbia Victoria... within 70 miles of the coast, due north from you and a long ways west from Ontario.
We have plenty of snowy mountains in these parts, especially in winter but our shop doesn't do hardly any work with MDO, OneShot or vinyl.
We like to work with sculpted concrete, steel or Precision Board and work mostly with acrylic paints.

We went shopping today for all the non-perishables and things which can stay in the freezer until the picnic. We filled two large shopping carts with goodies.
We had another meal planning meeting today... and I have nothing to worry about... in fact I have been BANNED from that area.... except to eat GREAT FOOD with the rest of our guests. I have the most wonderful family who are taking care of EVERYTHING!!
Sue Banasky is providing the panels for us in the panel jam area and will bring them by next week. We are going to continue the exchange panel theme and have folks do up their favorite letter on the panels... they are the perfect size... 12" X 12". I'm hoping to see some great work produced in our shop on the day of the picnic! I'll have the MultiCam going too to do up some 3D samples of similar size.
John Lennig has promised some hand painted banners and knowing his awesome hand lettering skills I KNOW they will be fantastic.
Other details continue to be working out... Its starting to feel REAL!!!! And its LESS than 3 weeks away!!!
Phoebe and I are getting REAL EXCITED!
