Hit the "enter" key after each letter, probably should set justification to "center."
You can adjust the vertical spacing by clicking on the node edit tool (two funny-looking arrows will pop up on the text...one on the bottom and one on the left). Click and hold on the bottom funny-looking arrow and slide mouse up and down to adjust vertical spacing.
Alternatively, you can adjust the vertical spacing by the menu:
with the text selected do the following:
1) click Text >> Format Text 2) a dialogue box pops up...adjust the "Line" percentage

added by edit: well, that's how it works in Corel 12, anyways..and 9, IIRC...so, I assume this would do the trick for most versions.

Adrienne...I just type the text, hitting the enter key after each letter. Then go to "arrange" and "break text apart". Marquis select all the letters and align centers vertically. That will get them in vertical alignment. To set vertical spacing between them I select all but the top letter and use the up or down arrows to move them up or down. Remembering how many times I hit the up arrow, I now select all but the top two and hit the up arrow the same number of times. Repeat until all letters are spaced the way you want them. For the word "GALLERY" it would take maybe 45 seconds to do all this.

Dave, type the text as you stated but instead of arrange and break apart select the horizontal alignment button on the text tool bar and select center. Letters will center. then select text tool and then shape tool. The shape tool will you let you move individual letters or all the letters. In addition you can still type another letter if need be since the word is not broken apart.

Stacking letters may seem necessary sometimes, but is generally not a good idea. Depends on the letter style of course, as Si's example is fairly easy to read, but in most cases this format is more difficult to read than if you lay it out normally and rotate it 90 degrees ccw.....at least this is what I was taught....
