Well at long last i have finally managed to get video footage of the letterheads meet in Scotland onto my server as promised at the meet...
The “tickle in the trossachs” meet was my first ever letterheads meet, and i really enjoyed it. I wasn’t there the full time as i had to spend a couple of days at the exhibition “Sign-UK” in England. But i did arrive on Friday night and got well and truly pickled with drink with everyone else back at the hotel. Saturday i spent the day “trying” to paint my first ever sign... 15 years i have been making signs and this had to be the hardest bloody thing i have done to date! I will be honest, it wasn’t what i expected. I like to think i am good at drawing, even painting a picture. But i was in for a shock... for me it was very different, i found out it i needed a totally different control over the brush, and that wasn’t going to happen for me in a few hours. “Personally, i blame my hand shaking from the drinking the night before” Anyway... everyone was brilliant, everyone helping one another and sharing their tips. Which i guess is exactly what it’s all about. Saturday night at the ceilidh/dance was such a laugh... I am from Scotland and i have never have i seen so many from across the pond in Kilts! Like all good things, it all came to an end too quick... My only regret was i only attended 2 days of the meet, i never got a chance to sit down and chat with more people. Next time i will be sure to attend the full time at my next one. England 2007 anyone?
Before i go, ide just like to thank Stewart McLaren for making this meet happen. God knows how long this must have taken to put together, but he did it, and he made a bloody great job of it too... Hats off to you big man, everyone had a brilliant time!
Also, a big thank you to everyone that signed my “Mastering layouts by Mike Stevens” book... I got some real good names in there from some of the best sign writers from around the world. i will continue to take this book to future meets and see if i can completely cover it in mentions.
The following video links are of the meet in Scotland.
The first link is of the Hall were all the painting took place, its video’d from my digital camera, rather than my video camera, as my battery was down. So please excuse the quality...
The second link is of the ceilidh/dance on the last night of the meet. This time quality should be better as it’s from my video camera.
Each video should stream from the server after an initial pause. Once complete you can actually “save” the footage onto your computer to view as much as you like. If you have a slow connection, just download, save then view for uninterrupted viewing.

Remove it? You gotta be kidding Robert! This is a wonderful thing you have done here.
What a thrill it is to see so many of our friends having a great time together in so many places. Watching the music and dancers at the Hall, made me think that you were all here at our own Fergus Legion.
We're so proud of Stewart and his crew for putting this together. Very frustrating to not see myself in the video. If there are any t-shirts left over, we'd love to see them available on the BB. Save us a couple.
Thank You for this Robert.

Wish I was there right now. I had a blast with you, Robert. And my Catherine. And Judy, Tim, those weird English guys that gave me the nasty Buckfast wine... Matt and family, Mike Meyer... The part where Henry is stitching his kilt, Jordo had just told me a wise acre comment. I was wearing my hardware store sweatshirt. It had never been anywhere so cool. The meet was WONDERFUL. Very poignant for me because you just wish you could stay in Scotland forever, but you know you can't. It was that good. love....Jill
