Apparently one of the local signmakers read an article that said all signs should be red/yellow combo. It's like chicken man...it's everywhere! Red/yellow have their place, but, it's not the magic combo!

We always called those Ketchup and Mustard signs.
Would you like a hotdog to go with that?
The color of OP's van was around back in the 70's. everyone wanted bright green and yellow. We called it the "Egg & Lettuce" scheme.

Remember that funky pale-peachy 'skin' colour that came in crayons . . . I really hated that one, and also the one that was a really pale yellow-green florescent colour . . . sort of a pale 'mint' green . . . blech.
I'm not very fond of some 'pastel' colours. It's as if they are wishy-washy, indecisive, faded and old, colour-wanna-be's.
LOL
Now . . . mabey we should go back to Cap'n Kens drama of the paint colours where he attributed gender to certain colours . . . then I can analyze their general 'personality' accordingly . . . as if I have nothing else to do . . .

I've been trying to match a particular color for 3 years now - customer insists the name of the color is "Sands of Waikakiee" by Benjamin Moore (he thinks) - or he said it might have been Sherwin-Williams - -I've checked several paint stores & nobodies ever heard of it - it's like a real light beige - almost white but not - hard to explain - - -Help????

Ha, ha, I have a competitor that almost exclusively use a brown/green/yellow combination on every sign. I wonder if he bought a ton of that paint in bulk at an auction sale or something. I really don't hate any particular colour, but certain colour combinations. Orange and brown being one of them. So 1970s.

David - PMS colors aint that bad - even my corporate clients who give me PMS #'s can usually live with closest match in vinyl - so many options nowadays - one of my local suppliers carries FedEx Purple & Orange - although it is factory spec vinyl they will not sell it to you directly unless you are on approved sign vendors list - -although I've done many signs for FedEx with Oracal Purple & Orange. . . with no complaints.
John Deere is another example of "protected Colors". . . .you can buy the paint in their dealers but cannot match in vynull. . .

Remember the sea foam green and pink rage of the early '90s? During that aesthetic nightmare, people were slapping down big bucks for teal 4WD duallie pickups. I told my wife that in five years, they wouldn't be able to sell them and I sure don't see any on the road now. They've probably all been crushed and recycled into Kias.
