Hi Folks, Heres a problem that i don't know if anyone else has had.
Running Corel 11 and Casmate Pro on the same system. OP is windows 98 which is the only one casmate will operate on. When the two are opened simultaneously get a system shutdown with a refer to vendor message which applies to the dongled version of casmate. (it is a dongled genuine edition). Getting frequent system freeze also which cannot even be halted by a ctrl/alt/del.
Tried going to sleep and hoping the fairies would fix it but alas to no avail.
Any input?
How beautiful it is to do nothing, and then rest afterwards.

When did problem this start? Have you always run the two together before? What new software did you install?

always happened mderately and was never really an issue. However it seems to have got worse since I decided to cut seperately through corel draw.
I find it easier to design and cut straight from corel just using the cutter as a plotter doing the usual 'no fill and hairline' method and just using my plotter as a printer.
With casmate it automatically installs drivers for all plotters. Corel however doesn't. So i have had to download the driver from roland for corel to see it as a printer ( with me so far?)
I'm wondering that if having installed the drivers for the cm24 as a printer when it was already in there in one form via casmates own o.s. this has caused a conflict.
Have I got two drivers for the same machine conflicting with each other?
But it freezes even if not plotting!

I am running Corel 11 and CasMate 6.52 on XP with no problems. I would say try to remove CasMate, and reinstall.
The only difference that we would have would be that I am not running a dongle on CasMate.

Last year one of our design stations (the one with Casmate) blew up. We bought the latest and greatest computer and tried to Run Casmate. As mentioned earlier, it would not run on XP. We ended up getting a second computer (used, lower grade) for Casmate and loaded Win98. We then got a KVM switch, which stands for KEYBOARD, VIDEO, MOUSE. We run both computers from the same location using the same Keyboard and monitor. You just hit a button to go from one computer to the other. The computers do file sharing through our DSL connection so we drop .DXF files from Corel to Casmate that way for vinyl cutting and routing. I hope no one takes belittles me for this, but I used a crack. Since CasMate is no longer sold or supported (more or less disowned by Scanvec), I figure it is no more than free ware at this point.

Mark, I would feel the same way. Ours is still dongled. We paid BIG BUCKS for this software back in the day. We only use it for plotting and routing now. We do not need it for Ripping, printing, or designing. I tried to call for Technical support a while back and NO ONE would help me other than try to sell me more BIG BUCKS software. When and if I decide to upgrade to other software it will not be made by Scanvec.

I worked for a large sign manufacturer about 5 years ago, and being in charge of the art department, I used CasMate for design and cutting, and sent it to Corel for "pretty pictures to show customers".
I upgraded and got a second copy for the engineer, and paid $1200 for just the dongle. (Now remember this is after CasMate had been discontinued). I was then transfered to project management, and I didn't want to pay $1200 for another dongle for a then out of date product, so I started checking around and found a crack for it. I tried it on my home computer, and it worked (using win 98). I then installed it on my work computer.
When I left that company to start my own company, I upgraded to xp, and just used the cracked version. I create in Corel 11 more now, and just use CasMate to create outlines and drop shadows, and some distortions.
I even installed a copy on one of my customers computers (who I do a lot of sub work for) and its running on xp.
Perhaps it may be the cracked version.
*I do not advocate "stealing" software, but like I said in an earlier post, since CasMate is not supported by Scanvec, it might as well be free.*

having not explained how just for the fact I was ecstatic it was sorted out I'll clarify:
Half the problem was the din/dim? switches, casmate requires that the rotate dimsum is switched to off which doesn't allow corel to rotate it through its print preview facility. It rotates on the screen but thats all.
The other half is that the flugel valve is not having parity with the inverted firkin generator which is causing a haemmorage in the Bangkok Post.
Well thats what it sounded like when I was having it explained to me!
